I was going through a box of old stuff in the basement and I found my collection of Blip - the failed videogame magazine by Marvel Comics. I haven't seen these in years, so I was happy to rediscover them. I've got the complete collection of 7 issues, including 2 of number 1. I've hung them up on the door of my game closet, opposite the pacman trading cards that I also located in the same box. I guess I can say I finally have a complete collection of something VG related, too bad it isn't all the games for a particular system.

I've never heard of it. Do they only review superhero games?

It seems kind of cool to have a complete collection!

I just ran across an ad for Blip in an old comic recently, and I always wondered what became of it. The ads are all I've seen... I've never laid eyes on an actual issue.

It was the size of a comic book and I think had the same sort of paper. I have a few issues packed away somewhere.

It's a pretty awful video game magazine, written especially for 12 year old gamers growing up in the early 80's. There ARE comics buried in each issue, but they're pretty ridiculous. In one, a sleazy reporter named Vic Video (ha. ha.) interviews Mario WHILE he's fighting Donkey Kong.
Joe tells me that Creem's Vidiot was even worse than Blip!, but I have a hard time believing that.

I wonder how much hot water a brother would be boiling in for scanning those puppies and putting 'em on the web.

Do a search, I know I've seen at least a the covers already scanned and online somewhere, if not the full issues. I'm not inclined to scan them due to the effort, but I recall someone else having already done it.

It's a pretty close race really, but I think Vidiot at least had a sense a humor that, for me, might make it better than Blip. Tough call though.

Hey man don't be hating Vidiot. Some of their captioning was HILARIOUS! (until their later issues when they seemed to get neutered). It's actually one of my favorite classic mags. :)

I was curious if this is any more collectible now? seeing as how old this topic was, and I was curious if anyone read this back when it was released, was there ever anything of great use in it?

I stumbled across an issue in my comic collection, it had a walkthrough for venture on the colecovision. Neat to see either way.

Man, I bought issue 1 a while back and found them to be kind of cool, I like the classic reviews cheesy or not.

I've wanted those for awhile. I always pore through the 25 cent bins at comic book stores to find them, but I haven't so far. I did find a few Atari Force though, and lots of Atari game ads as well. :D

I have a couple issues.

I find them to be as collectable as anything else. But i'm not really a big "This is worth money or rare, i gotta own it!!" kinda guy. More as if i like or think something is worth having, i'll get it.

Blip is sort of in that vein. An interesting look at a very early Videogame only magazine. (Well in comic form) It's odd and interesting enough to make it worthwhile having, although i doubt that the value is really high moneywise.
