So is there a good reason why there hasn't been a Colecovision Classics collection released for any of the recent consoles? We've had Atari, Activision and Intellivision collections, why no Coleco. It was just as popular, even more so I believe than the Intellivision. Would there be license problems with games like Donkey Kong or something?

Well, Telegames did release that Personal Arcade compilation for the PC a couple years ago. From what I've heard though, it wasn't very good.

I think the big problem must be licensing. I think the rights to the ColecoVision library are divided between Telegames and... Hasbro? (Or did they sell the CV rights to Infogrames along with their Atari properties?) And that doesn't count third-party releases.

Anyway, many of the "big" ColecoVision classics are arcade ports, so releasing those would require additional licensing. And many of the arcade games were created by less well-known companies, so tracking down the current license owners would probably be a major undertaking. And many of the games not based on arcade games are based on other licenses like Tarzan, Cabbage Patch Kids, B.C., Wargames, Star Trek... it's a licensing nightmare, I tells ya!

I saw the Personal Arcade collection at Target before and it was made up of Xonix CV releases mostly IIRC. No-name properties. No arcade ports.
