Is this an accurate description of what happens to NOS Genesis games, or are we looking at a re-wrap job? The explanation sounds reasonable enough...

Luckily, I don't generally buy unopened old games anyway, but if someone else is interested, I thought I might pose the question here.

Actually, I think it's much more likely this is authentic than a perfect, flawlessly shrinkwrapped game.

yeah, sounds pretty real to me. The genesis shrink wrap was pretty thin...sorta like a saran wrap deal so I don't see how It woudn't tear over time.

As far as I can tell, these are legit. I looked at every single one of this seller's Genesis games, and most of their shrinkwrap shows typical signs of it's age. The shrinkwrap on the older titles like that almost always does that kind of thing in storage, as it gets older. I may have to bid on some of this stuff.

I'll jump in and agree. I've noticed this on Genny and Saturn games. I used to have some great new Saturn games I bought from Walmart when they were blowing out their old sock. The shrinkwrap was tattered and in some cases just barely there.

LOL! Interesting how most of those items had no bids on them at all until I said that they seemed to be legit and I might be interested in bidding on some of them. Now most of them not only have a few bids on them, but there's even the beginnings of some bidding wars going on over some of them, and all within minutes of my post here. I guess I should've kept my mouth shut. Oh well. The only one I was really interested in was Alex Kidd.

I already have all the other ones, except for a couple that I don't really care about anyway. But after doing a search on it to find out what it's about, I don't think I really care about Alex Kidd either. Paper, scissors, rock? Could they possibly come up with a more lame concept for a video game mascot? No wonder the world rejoiced when Sonic arrived to save Sega from certain extinction. Even Mario is less lame than this is, and Mario is pretty lame too.

 You're treading on dangerous ground knocking Alex Kidd. Maybe for some of his other games (including the Gen version) this would be mildly acceptable, but the best game he was in - Alex Kidd in Miracle World, which included Janken or P,R,S - is a classic.

Guess I'm glad I wasn't planning to bid... (I won another complete Alex Kidd cart for about $10 anyway, so no big loss.)

Anyway, good info there. And as far as the Kidd games go, I'm actually not all that impressed with the three SMS ones I have...yet. I don't think I've played them enough to know quite what to think.

So far, Lost Stars is the one I've spent the most time on -- damn, it's frustrating! -- but I've almost managed to finish collecting the map pieces. And I can tell that Miracle World will soon take up a lot of my time, as soon as I get a chance to play it for a good long while.

Now I just need Shinobi World... LOL
