What are some games that you enjoy playing with your SO?.......VIDEO Games that is.
Especially games that might interest the "non-gamer" of the pair.

The Adventures of Cookie and Cream, published by Agetec for the PS2. Two-player cooperative action, cute & cuddly, fantastic level and puzzle design. It's my non-gamer girlfriend's most favoritest game of all time, and she continues to rant about its greatness more than a year after we played through it.

What sort of cooperative action though? Is it like one person hits a switch on one side of the room to open a door for the other person, or hefting up your buddy onto ledges you couldn't reach by yourself, etc? I always wanted to find a 2D platformer that followed the premise of the latter.

Have you ever played "The Lost Vikings"?

My wife is a non-gamer and she really likes some of the games in super monkey ball 2. Her favorites are golf, pool and monkey fight.

Hey, I almost forgot that one! Yeah, that was a good 'un. Sonic 3 was another in the sense that Tails could carry Sonic around, but definitely not as co-op minded.

Custer's Revenge! Custer's Revenge! :P ROFL
No, really, I think Contra would be a good idea. The entire series is pretty much the perfect example of 2-player cooperation. Oh, and Gunstar Heroes. W00t.

Gauntlet: Legends and Gauntlet: Dark Legacy are both multiplayer co-op...very easy to play, no complicated controls, but I think they're fun.

Seriously though, few can hate on mario kart: double dash, male or female. Especially for its multiplayer mode...co-op is awesome.

I think the Tigress likes puzzle games the most. I got her hooked on Bust a Move.
I need a second controller sowe can play fighters. Women seem to enjoy beating up their man.
For 3DO.............Twisted

I just got done playing way too much Magical Drop II with my gf just now. 90 min. of crazy crazy action, at one point I was going purely off instinct because the challenge got so high.

How about Kirby Super Star for the SNES?
Or Secret of Mana :)
Tales of Destiny had a thing where if you got a certain item you could have soembody else controll one of the usually CPU characters in battle. Never tried it though.

Any Monkey Ball.
Stay away from things that are:
1. Complicated (Having to Use Every Button on the Controller=Bad)
2. Hard (Dying Right away/Frustrartingly=Bad
3. "Male" Subject Matter (Fighting, War, Sports=Bad)
Monkey Ball
1. In Reg game- No Buttons At All!, Just Move!
2. Some levels can be hard, but all mini games are easy and controls are still simple
3. Nothing is less male than cute monkeys! Well, I still like it :p!

OK, I don't have a girlfriend (yes, I'm a loser...) but my sister really loves Crash mode on Burnout 2...and she absolutely murders me at it. I think she sees it as a puzzle game...and works out strategies...I just see how fast I can get going before I slam into the first bus...

I have started to get my wife more interested in gaming. We recently finished SMB3 together and are going to start on another Mario game soon, probably SMW. She also likes playing Halo in co-op mode and loves The Sims in co-op mode too. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to persuade her to play Time Splitters 2 again after she discovered you don't respawn after dying. She was not amused about that and quit the game. lol I am going to try to get her to play Donkey Kong Country, because that is more co-op than most games... really, SMB3 and SMW aren't co-op really but they are if you don't try to seal each other's stuff like in SMB3. But with Donkey Kong Country, you can tag each other in and out. I've explained this to her and I think one day she will agree to try playing it.
Not sure what other games are co-op that haven't already been mentioned. I really hope Halo 2 is co-op when it comes out... I'm sure it will be since the first one was. I only have a SNES and Xbox (well, and a GBC but that's kinda hard to have two people huddle around) so I'm limited to the number of co-op games I know.

Ugh Cookies and Cream. We played that game and its friggin HARD and extremely frustrating. I can't believe they marketed it as a childs game.
Anyway, we tend to prefer co-op games like that too. Head to head is okay, but both of us seem to prefer helping each other out more than pounding the crap out of each other.
Currently, our game of choice is co-op Mario Kart:DD. She drives, I check people and man the weapons.
We've also done the Mario's and Timesplitters 2. Halo is next I think...

Carm and I are currently in training with Beachspikers (Fear our collective might, Santulli!), playing Uru together, and enjoying a bit of Super Monkey ball 2.
She routinely whips my ass at fighting games, so I've stopped playing her out of bruised pride.

My wife and I play:
SSX
Bubble Bobble
Sonic Advenutre
Jak and Daxter
Hot Shots Golf 3
She played the demo of FFX and she liked it after long derying RPGs as boring but we never did start the title.
