I've been playing Namco Museum on PS2 for a couple of weeks, love the nostalgia. Here are my high scores, written down after last night's gaming. If you so wish, post yours so I can see how good/pathetic mine are! Please note that none of these scores use patterns or other cheats...

Pac Man: 33,940
Galaga: 29,200
Dig Dug: 19,340 (truly awful I know)
Ms. Pac Man: 28,560
Galaxian: 10,550

Also, can you guys let me know what other classic arcade games and collections have been released for PS1, PS2, or N64? I'm having a blast with this collection, I'd love to play others if I knew what to ask for. (sorry if this has been asked before)

A few other notable PlayStation compilations:

Konami Arcade Classics
Arcade's Greatest Hits: Atari Collection I
Arcade's Greatest Hits: Atari Collection II
Arcade's Greatest Hits: Midway Collection
Williams' Arcade's Greatest Hits
Arcade Party Pak
Atari Collection Redux

NOT GOOD - Home console compilations
Atari 2600 Classics
Intellivision Classics

There are several import collections too: Irem Classics, Nichibutsu Arcade Classics, and several MSX and Capcom disc collections.

If you're into Xevious (and who isn't?), you could get Namco Museum Vol. 2 for PSX, but I would suggest you get the standalone disc Xevious 3D/G+ instead. I don't like the scroll method used on the Namco Museum Xevious port, so I prefer the port on 3D/G+. Also, you get Xevious Arrangement, and of course, the main attraction, Xevious 3D/G, which I think is one of the better "classic game updates" that I've played.

And my high score on Galaga is a paltry 175,000 or so. I was reading Supercade by Van Burnam, where it said that the author could "kick your ass" at Galaga. I've been wondering ever since how many millions her high score runs.

When, not if, but when, I finally make it to CGE, if there's a Galaga cabinet on free play I'm gonna smoke all y'all's asses. Including Van if she shows up.

Galaga? Pfft!

Meet me over on the GAPLUS machine and we'll see what's what.

BTW, Britboy, which version of Pac-Man is in the PS2 version of Namco Museum? I have Namco Museum vol. 1 for the PSX, and its Pac-Man version is probably Puck-Man. The maze is completely different from the Midway North American release.

I personally prefer Atari Anniversary Redux to Namco Museum, not because of game preference, but because of versions used for the compilation (by the by, there's a bug in Atari Anniversary Redux's Pong in which the paddle can't cover the top, which gives it a sure-point corner for the opponent).

Then again, it is possible that Namco corrected Namco Museum's shortcomings when they ported it to the PS2. Is the museum better designed? I hate having to go back to the museum screen just to select the next item in the exhibition hall.

It has Pac-Man, Pac-Man Arragngement, Ms. Pac-Man, Pac-Land, Pac-Attack, Dig Dug, Dig Dug Arrangement, Pole Position 1 and 2, Galaga, Galaga Arrangement and Galaxian.

There is no "museum" type stuff, but it's still a good disc because of the number of games. They did fix some of the glitches from the PSX ports; Pole Position has all the voices.

BTW, Aracde Party Pak and Arcade's Greatest Hots: Atari 2 won't work on a PS2.

But is Pac-Man actually Puck-Man (in other words, the original version of the game) or is it the Midway Pac-Man? There are substantial differences between the two versions.
