Okay. I just bought an Action Replay Max for my PS2. I was checking out the very cool Memory Card manager, and following the instruction book to a tee, I "crushed" or condensed a gamesave to allow for more room on my card(like they instructed). Next thing I know, none of my saves are showing on the screen. I go to the browser on my PS2 and EVERYTHING IS GONE and the memory card is CORRUPTED!!!
Goddamnit!!! I have nothing backed up on a seperate card. PLUS, it's the same card I've been using since 2000 and has EVERYTHING saved, including about 20 recent hours of Final Fantasy X-2 that my girlfriend was playing!
I'm planning on calling the tech support for the AR Max in the morning, but I think I'm pretty much, well... PRETTY MUCH FU**ED!

:( Sorry to hear that.
I learned my lesson when I bought a Memory Card Plus for my Playstation years ago. I lost my FF7 Save... 5 times I think.
As early as the end of Disc 1, and as late as the start of disc 3.
Just stick with official cards for saving.

your save files aren't gone, their just compressed. It's like taking file on your computor and zipping...you still have the file, but you can't use it until it's unzipped...so to get your save back, just decompress the save you want to use before starting the game...be sure to decompress first or the game will make you a new save file and decompression may not happen since a save will already exist on your card...I hope this helps...If it turns out it is corrupted, all I can say is Im sorry, and recommend that you get multiple memory cards instead of trying to compress.

Had one of those 360 block cards for PSOne... got my PS2, tried to keep on truckin through Chrono Cross (I was right at the end)... not compatable with PS2, BAM! Nothing left. Card dead. FF5, 6, 7, 8, 9, Tactics, MGS, Chrono Cross, Super Puzzle Fighter, BoF3, you name it. Gone, all of it... I was pissed off for a straight month.
Needless to say, I learned my lesson with third party ANYTHING. Never again.

Yeah, I only compressed one file and *POOF*, gone. Nothing is showing up through the browser or through the Action Replay. I've NEVER bought a 3rd party memory card in my life, and I frequently tell people at work not to get them. This is the last time I ever let anything third party touch my save files.
I guess that's what I get for being a bad little monkey and using a cheat device.

In defense of third party mem cards, I have a 32 page memory card that I bought from walmart for PS1 years ago. I don't know what brand it is, but it's clear, has a small lcd screen, and two buttons. Literally the best memory card I've ever owned. It has EVERYTHING on it, and I've never had any problems.

Ah, the curse of the 3rd party memory card. I once bought a ps1 "lara croft" memory card from a wal-mart that was moving for cheap, and the damn thing wasn't even formatted apparently. Piece of shit made by interact. I'm glad they went out of business :fist: :fist:. Stick to Sony or the Sony-endorsed Mad Catz or Nyko cards if you're going to buy another memory card for the ps2. 3rd party memory cards are typically very shitty.

I had my FF7 gamesave on an unliscenced card, and I kept 3 game saves just in case. Now, every now and then, one save file would become corrupt, but since I had the backups, it was no problem. I was almost complete the first disc, with 30 hours of play down, and blam, it was all gone, all three saves were corrupt. Blah.

I have about 25 games and have 2 and will quickly need another. If I fully used them for my sports games, I would prbobaly need like 3 more.

I just heard back from Datel about the problem I had (that was real quick). They said that they have heard of a few problems with this but were unable to recreate the problem. They apologized and instructed me on how to reformat my memory card so I can use it again. They will also be sending me a free copy of their newest version of the ProAction Replay Max that they said has gone through plenty of testing and have had no memory card manager problems at all.
I'm still pissed about the memory card, but you gotta admit... THAT'S SERVICE!

Holy crap, you played 30 hours on the FIRST DISC? I only played 45 hours for the entire GAME!

Well call me crazy, yes it sucks that the saves are gone (had this happen on a 3rd party memory card with FF7) But since you have a ar just cheat your way back to where you are for the games youcan. May not be much but its better than nothing.
