I was curious if anyone can top my expert run in 62 seconds?

I had a wholely unhealthy obsession with this game and got to the point I was playing close to 4 hours a day. I got this time in febuary of 99 and was able to tie it dozens of time but was never able to break the magical 1 minute mark. I eventually had to replace my mouse with a trackball so that I couldnt play the gamee anymore.

I can relate completely. My name is Steve, and I am addicted to Minesweeper. At one point, rock-bottom, I played Minesweeper until one morning I heard a 'sproing', and saw my mouse button and the spring underneath pop off and fly across the apartment. I never found the spring. It ws lost to me forever, along with the countless hours robbed by that insidious, mind-controlling diversion.

I sunk so low, I managed to score 3 seconds on Beginner, and 14 seconds on Intermediate, and 23 seconds on Expert. Here's a hint:
DON'T mark flags. That will only slow you down.

Jeez... I was about to post that I once got 13 seconds on beginner... I guess I'll keep that to myself now...

The fastest time I've ever been able to get on Beginner was 6 seconds. I don't remember what my times are in general for intermediate and Expert.

Beginner 5
Intermediate 65
Expert 177

I remember competing with co-workers when we didn't feel like working at my internship years ago. Fun!

For beginner, I got a score of 2-4 seconds (for the life of me, I can't remember exactly which it was, but it was less than 5). That's essentially luck, though.

I don't have it installed on this PC, so I can't do a run-through to try it (aw shucks).

Hmm, and I thought my time of 168 was awesome.

I used to think I was good at minesweeper. I guess I should rethink that now. LOL

My records are 6 on beginner, 39 on intermediate, and 110 on expert.

I love Minesweeper. I utterly suck at it, however. But how can anyone not resist the simple charms of this basic Windows game? I can't. I grew up playing it all the time. :)

ya I wasnt about to be the first to comment on that but I'm not buying that.

I've seen some crazy scores like my father has beginner in 1sec (its possible to win in 2 mouse clicks.....possible). But I only play expert.

dreams, 110 for expert is pretty good. Its not to hard to cut that down to 90. In my prime I was always under 90 but even now I am pretty consistent between 90 and 120

so I did a little googling today

heres what I need to check out as soon as I finish finals

heres your answer to 23

heres some SICK videos of peoples run

hmm, I never noticed you could right click. I'll have to look into that

How many of you guys use that strategy where you mark a flag, then uncover the remaining squares around it by clicking the numbered square with the left and right mouse buttons simultaneously?

Just curious because it was only recently I found out about this function after a couple years of playing. Guess I should read instructions more :embarrassed:

I've gotten 1 second on Custom... the lowest amount of mines, the largest field, and one click :D

I stopped playing Minesweeper a couple of years ago, and began Freecell instead. My best scores of Beginner and Intermediate are still listed, but I tested out the cheat to stop the clock, in Expert, so the displayed score of 1 second is obviously bogus.

When I typed the 23 above, it was from memory, and having given it more thought, it's very possible the real time was 43, not 23. However, it is definitely possible, if you play enough. It's just a matter of lucking out with a very good click, and being pretty good to begin with. And I am certain my score was either 43 or 23.

Today, after re-visiting the game on Expert, I'm consistently in the low 50's and 60's, and I haven't played in a very long time.

All bow before a retired Minesweeper expert.....ok a salute will do.

Expert 33 seconds on 4/20/00.
Beginner 3 seconds from 2002.
Intermidete i have a crappy 50 seconds saved from 2001 but I could easily beat it.

And I have those scores saved so those of you that say I think I got this or I know I got that score don't count. 8-)
