The cartridge was traded to one of our operatives by a dirty hobo in exchange for a cup of coffee. Later on we had to give him a stale donut to get out of jail.

I used to have a Final Fantasy II poster for the US release of the NES version. It was a letter size poster/promo thing that I puked on once by accident when I was 14. It was one of those things that were sent to stores to hang in the window to promote upcoming games. Damn...what a rarity.
God I kick myself for that now...

Oh...wow. Damn. Do you remember what it looked like?
Yeah, it was letter size, glossy, no creases. And had a lot of puke on it, j/k! :-)
I think it had a brownish background with a gradient on it that got lighter toward the center, as the centerpiece was lit up (maybe light shining down?). I think it may have been a picture of a helmet and/or a sword....then again, my brain might just be telling me lies, as it was 11 or 12 years ago. You know what, come to think of it, I may have even saved the two pieces (I think I had to tear it off the wall, since the puke froze it to the wallpaper) in a shoebox crammed full of game posters....I'll see what I can find and get back to you....
But ya know...It may well have been the box cover picture for the game on that poster...

Hey Folks,
I did some checking on that poster and I can not find it...I believe it is gone for good.
However....
I did find something I had absolutely no idea I owned. I believe it is part of the same press kit that the poster originally came from. It is a 4 page pamphlet (actually, one sheet folded in half, making a front, back, and an inside 2 page spread). It has pictures of the upcoming FF Legend games, and also a pic of the FF 2 NES box. On the back it mentions "Final Fantasy II for NES." The picture of the FF II box is different than the poster that I had....damn I wish I still had that poster. I will check some more, but I'm afraid it is a lost cause.
Red Eye...I will scan the pamphlet thingy and send it to you. What format do you want it in? I am thinking of scanning it and then doing a photomerge of it in Photoshop (since it will take probably 6 scans....should be 4 but my stupid scanner cuts off the first 1/4 inch of each border of a page when touching the edges of the scan surface).

This pleases me to no end. Yes yes yesss, scan that thing. Give me one huge, high-quality crop of the FF2 box, and scan everything else so it's readable, if you can.
You may have just made my entire shitty evening better. Thanks, dude.

No Prob, Red.
I will do that. I spent last night cleaning moth shit off the thing. It also seems that were a few tiny tears and a few tiny spots of water damage (lol, puke maybe...lol! j/k). No biggie at all though.
I also spent last night scouring my room for the old poster. I even checked the damn old wall it used to be on!!! I'm afraid it is now officially hopelessly lost.
There is actually a subtitle to the game I can't remember right now that is on the pamphlet thingy. And also, remember how the FF1 box says it comes with an 84 page booklet on the front? The FF2 box says the same thing! Also, the font for the title on the box is the same font as the font title for FF Legend II. These above items leads me to believe this was a mock-up picture and to a certain (high?) degree, preliminary. It would be good to note these facts on your site when you get them.
Here's what I'll do: I'll scan the whole thing at 600 dpi....nice high res image. Then I'll photomerge the front and I'l photomerge back so you have two images instead of 4-6 (has to be done in more than one scan). I'll scan the FFII box at 1200 dpi, as it only takes up a square inch or so of the whole thing (gotsta get that detail). As for getting it to you, we'll see how large the end up. If emailable (under a meg...doubtful), I will email. If too large, we can set up a time to instant message or ICQ it over.
I plan on trying to get it scanned tonight, now that's its as cleaned as I care to clean it (don't wanna damage it any further, ya know?).
Red, there's something else that may please you. IN searching for the FFII poster, I also found 3 copies of an old Capcom games poster. They had many pics of different Capcom games onit, but most importantly, they had pics of the California raisins box...maybe more..I didn't really check it too hard. If ya want, I can get you this too.

So is it true that final fantasy III (jap. vers.) is the only version never released in english translation??? I find this interesting. Am i wrong?
rbudrick
12-20-2003, 02:46 AM
Well it would stand to reason that since FFII was barely translated into English, then it would be highly doubtful that they started on FFIII. Wasn't there a PSX version or something?
Oh, by the way folks, the scans are done and should be sent to TheRedEye soon (high Res= 111MB, so I'll hafta mail a disc, I think).

Yes, @_@
I hope it will someday rerelease on any console. In the moment its the only FF that only released on NES. all other NES games rereleased on WonderSwan Color and PSX and the SNES games rereleased too. But 3 NES not. :(
But there is an unofficial Translation Patch avaible in the net somewhere.

FF3 for WSC never came out. In japan, the people apparently still hold out hope since its STILL on Famitsu's 20 most wanted games list.
Is there any website that talks about ff3? I wonder what this game was about and how different it was to ff1 and 2.

I only recall that it was supposed to be quite a good game, using a version of the "jobs" system from FF5.

From what I've heard it's FF1 + FF5. Also, since I haven't play it, and this is hearsay, but from people who've played all 10 FF games, that 3 is the best one.
