VERY reasonable. What's with the open prarie response? I thought there were anime lovers besides me here?

Excuse my anime newbieness, but what are cels? I have several friends who are cowboy bebop fans so I'll pass it along to them for you :)

Cels ARE the cartoon. All old style cartoons are made by drawing pictures and then filming the pictures. To animate a cartoon, the modern cartoonist first draws concept sketch, then a final sketch or a "douga" as they're known in Japan. That douga is used to transfer the lines of the artwork onto a piece of clear acetate. Then, that acetate is painted by hand for the final product, called an "animation cel". The cel is then used to film the cartoon. Until recently, all cartoons were made this way. Recently, many studios have been moving to computer animation, and cels are slowly being left by the wayside.

Basically, every cel is an actual hand painted piece of original, one of a kind artwork used in the making of a cartoon. They have very high demand, many going for thousands of dollars, though the vast majority sell at around $100, and often less, depending on the availability of the cels, the popularity of the show, and other similar factors. It's a rather unique collectible, as no two are alike and for shows like Cowboy Bebop, there are only a limited number of cels available, as it's a finite series, and most studios keep most of their cels.

Im not a big fan of anime, but I have some friends that I will ask for you. As for other cels I have a handful, that and production drawings. I love old school animation.
