What would be a good way to check if some Japanese Saturn games are pirated if all you have to go on is a slightly blurry digital photo?

I've never seen a pirated Saturn game yet. I suppose it's possible, but without a sample pirate to judge from or intimate (not THAT kind of intimate!) knowledge of the game you're interested in, I'd say it's impossible to tell from a blurry photo.

Thanks!! I am considering buying some Saturn games ... and I am fairly sure that they are genuine, but I just wanted to be sure. If you have never seen a pirated one then I will take that as good enough grounds to take the risk in this case ... hopefully I will be able to tell more soon! :)

uh oh ... just been sent some close up photos, and I am a little unsure again now. Something looks a little fishy ... for example the Guardian Heroes game has a white bar at the side where the spine / hinge is .. I'm sure that's not right. Same with X-Men vs. Streetfighter and Groove on Fight ...

Can anyone verify this? Or is there anyone who I could forward these photos to for an opinion?

Yeah, you can forward em to me at maxlords@nutnbut.net

I've owned multiple copies of Guardian Heroes and an X-Men Vs. Streetfighter before :) I should be able to tell!

Yeah, I checked out the stuff in his pics. It looks like it's on the level, but someone replaced the normal black jewel cases with white PC Engine style ones for some reason. Everything looked kosher to me tho!

There it all is... I think the price was pretty good. Second opinions on that?

Not a bad price for all that stuff IMO. You didn't get it super insanely cheap, but you're definitely not losing any money! In fact, I'd say individually, those games are worth more...perhaps as much as $500 US depending on condition! :)

Really? I totted up what I would expect if I sold this on Ebay UK and came to £500 ($800+). But I think Jap Saturn stuff tends to go for a bit more over here at the moment. For example, Metal Slug ... I would have no trouble selling that for $80 - $90 on its own over here. Shining Force 2 part 2, maybe $70 - $80, and so on.

Anyway, I am probably going to cut a deal with the second bidder for a lot of it - he is in Australia. and I have been in touch with him for a while discussing PAL games. Basically, if we can work it out, he will hang on to all the games I already have and send the rest on to me, along with a few PAL games I've been looking for - and we'll figure out some kind of price / trade thing. All good!

I wish I had known before that he was going to be bidding though, because we could have arranged beforehand for only one of us to bid ... and then I would have got it all for AU$430 .. still, he told me he was considering making his bid AU$550, so I guess I should just count my blessings!

Jp Saturn stuff is a bit more in Europe than in the US. Slug by itself runs about $50 US around here for example. I don't know why there's such a discrepancy with the international markets as open as they are, but that's how it is!
