It doesn't say it is modified and just says if you have the A/V cables you can hook it up that way.

Here is another where you can request either the RF adapter or A/V cables? Unless modified I didn't think the original NES could hook up with A/V cables.

The right side has the AV inputs for the system as a standard. The toploader is the one that needs to be modded to use AV cables. The toaster-style model can be modded to play stereo sound however, IIRC.

Ah, I haven't had an NES is so long I couldn't remember. I thought the only NES with A/V was a modified Top Loader ha ha.

As far as I know it can be modified to play left and right channels but it's not true stereo. The mod plays some sounds on the left and others on the right. But not true stereo.

Or, if you're cheap, you can just plug a splitter into the "audio out" jack. Yes, you'll only get two channels of mono sound, but that's still one more than you had before. :P

Yeah, I sold a system with the AV Hookups a while back, worsk perfectly. I'm not a big fan of the NES Myself, but it does produce a better picture. This comes from a Person who has All 11-12 Consoles Except for the Atari 7800 (To be Modded!) All hooked up through AV. Yes, this included my SMS, which now gets played 1,000,000% More then with RF :)

Are the toasters with AV outputs on the side valuable?

All toasters have AV inputs on the side.

I find it Amazing that people haven't noticed these.......simply amazing. I guess it just says that people will always hook it up the way they remembered, and I don't know of anybody that had their NES hooked up using the A/V plugs on the side....
