yeah, you just never heard of it. These were available back in the day of the CD-i. Mostly used as video players for presentations by Corporate Man X to Salary Man Q. But they have the full function of a regular CD-i player, most of them have the DV cartridge in them as well. I have wanted one for a while just so I can save on space b/c my CD-i is so dam HUGE!

Many of them have totally dead batteries (rechargeable=DEAD batterys). so look out for that if you are gonna get one.

I guess there was a Sony version too: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3063992653&category=49237

How interestingly odd.

Yep! I'd like to get the Sony one myself.

@ Jive3D: mine came with two batteries, and I think both of them work. I'm a fan of "connecting to the mains," and I haven't had any presentations, so I haven't had a chance (or a wish) to test them extensively. I do think they're both fine, though :)

I need to take some better pictures of my portable CD-i. It's a really beautiful machine, and that dark picture just doesn't do it justice.

Whoa! I just had a flashback of my dad owning one of those. Damn, I wonder where it is now.
