I'm assuming you mean TG16 :)

There are a few:

http://www.zophar.net/tg16.html

Hugo is free and pretty good. IMHO Magic Engine is the best out there, although it's a pay emu. It is actually the first emulator I actually purchased. I think I paid $12. Definitely worth it as the emulation is so exact it would be hard to tell if it were a real TG16 or an emulator...if not for the joystick I'm using. It also plays Supergrafx stuff, CD games...just about everything. I have only really had problems running some homebrew junk on it.

TG?

If so give TGEMU a try:

http://www.zophar.net/tg16.html

here's a link to the windows port of it:
http://cgfm2.emuviews.com/emul.php#pce

I use it all the time on my Macs but it's better updated on that side. I tried out the Windows version and just had a fine game of Galaga'90 so should be fine too :)

But man there's hardly anything out there for the poor TG16, I guess everyone bows down before Magic Engine and thus they can charge $ for it. Need some healthly capitalist competition in this area ;)

Ok, I downloaded the TGEMU, and I downloaded Bonks Adventure and Battle Royale, but neither worked. Is there something else I have to do besides going to the "Open ROM" folder?

Amen to that. Magic Engine is nice and all but it isn't perfect. No offense (GO AHEAD BE OFFENDED) to those who paid for it but most of the hype stems from having to buy it. I've never been one to shell out dough for intangible software myself.

Hmm, did you buy Windows? :) Seriously tho, what is not perfect in your eyes? I'm testing Magic Engine next to a real TG16 and it's accuracy is pinpoint.

I'm not fond of the interface, for one. And as for the intangible software comment I meant things like professionally pressed disks, etc. I can physically 'hold' Windows. :D

You should also refuse to pay costs of an item that aren't involved in the production of the material product. Man, you could get some really cheap stuff.

All being able to physically hold a disc does is inflate the price, particularly for smaller products. The less you produce, the more it costs on a per item basis. If they were to make inserts and have professionally pressed CDs for Magic Engine, and then ship them out it'd just cost that much more, and there would be no beneift.

That sounds inefficient.

I am not talking about the interface, but the actual quality of the product. Even if you do not like the interface (not sure why) that is a minor thing. What really makes the program is that it can emulate the TG16 to near perfection. I would probably say 99%. Thats pretty damn good and worth 12 bucks I would say. After you purchase it and download it you can burn it to a 25 cent CD-R. $12.25 total to be able to play any TG16, PC Engine, Supergrafx and Cd-Rom2 game. Sounds pretty freakin' good to me!

Wow, what did I start.

but still, help please. I go to open file, and nothing happens.

Forced full screen mode (so far as I know you can't play in a window), no hot keys for loading a rom and the nature of the save state format results in bloated files. I didn't question the emulation but I can still question the software as a whole and just not buy it.

Now I've infrequently skimmed through several emulation discussion boards and most opinions seem to place an elite status on Magic Engine because the bling bling is involved. Does it play the games? Yes it does. Should I like it that there aren't very many other emu alternatives and the ME authors are taking advantage of that fact? Fuck no.

Magic Engine has its status because it is a great piece of work, not because money is involved. I really do not believe the ME authors are taking advantage of the fact that there aren't any alternatives either. If there were a whole slew of TG16 emulators to choose from they would STILL charge for theirs. There are tons of SMS emulators to choose from, but Marat still charges for his "Mastergear" even tho it is inferior to many other free emulators. And why not....if you write the code you can pretty much do whatever you want to with it.

To get back to the topic, have your tried Rew yet? Rew is an other emulator that plays NES, GB and TG16 games. I have no idea what happened to the author or original homepage, but after some searching I found a download here (in the Gameboy emulators section):

http://www.emucamp.com/

It will only load unzipped roms however, but the quality is pretty good. Worth a shot.
