My roommate and I are trying to turn our dorm for this semester into a RetroGaming Shrine. We're collecting all the consoles we can, and working to cover the walls in game posters .. so we're looking for posters advertising systems, games for them .. etc., especially from the 8-32 bit era .. ESPECIALLY MegaDrive/Genesis, SMS, Game Gear, 32x, MegaCD/SegaCD, Saturn, NES, and to a lesser extent, SNES.

In addition to hardware posters, the following games would be nice to have posters/flyers with content of ESPECIALLY..

* Sonic series
* Ecco series
* Gunstar Heroes
Kirby series
Rocket Knight Adventures / Sparkster
* Nights into Dreams
Megaman / Rockman series
* Mario (1/2/3/World/All Stars) *esp Mario 2 Famicom version
Rescue Rangers
Duck Tales
Captain Skyhawk
Kung Fu
Jurassic Park (SMS/GG Only)
Power Rangers (SMS/GG Only)
Tomcat Alley
Keio Flying Squadron
Afterburner Series
Guerilla War (NES/Famicom)
Ikari Warriors

Arcade games:
- Raiden Series
- Sonic Wings / Aero Fighters
- Giga Wing
- DonPachi
- Do DonPachi
- Do DonPachi Dai-ou-jou
- ESP.Ra.De
- Guwange
- Strikers 1945 series
- 19xx Series
- NES VS System
- NES Arcade Ports (esp. Mario series)

ESPECIALLY looking for foreign stuff, I'd love to have some famicom posters, MegaDrive posters, etc., all I have right now is stuff from the states.

Please reply here or e-mail me (epicenter@adelphia.net) or contact me on AIM (Epicenter713), PM me, whatever. :)

Thanks! :D

Same here. I collect those, and actually FRAME them. I cringe at anyone tacking them up in their dorm room :( I'd honestly be an inch from strangling you if I came to visit and found some of that stuff on your walls.....a lot of it is rare as hell!

Please don't do it unless they're common ones or photocopies! Think of the collectors!

I'm going to have to second what Max said. Those things are hard as balls to find, and VERY pricey. Especially the Famicom/Super Famicom stuff. Way more pricey than MD / MegaCD.

I've got quite a few, but none for sale really, other than a Macross 2 poster I got that came the latest PS2 game. Selling it cheap if you want it.

If you want to SEE some flyers (IE - like what's out there) check out the bonus section of my site. Just added a bunch of Saturn stuff.

I can't say I agree with putting posters in vaults and not really enjoying them .. and frames are really overkill. Plus, with cinderblock dorm walls, nailing up frames is made impossible. I believe in really enjoying one's property .. sure, I like my copy of Sonic 1 and 2 in their original boxes with manuals, my Mario 3 in sleeve in perfect shape, and other stuff like that, but I want to play them and have them out in places where I can see them, where they make me happy, where they start interesting conversations. Hiding them away because they are collector's items is a bit hypocritical. They are only collector's items if they have value .. their value was gained by them being great games and fun to play. If no one plays them, they have no value.

Hm? Hm? :)

...and frames are really overkill

There are plenty of alternatives to framing that still keep your rare and obscure posters and flyers in nice shape. I hang up everything, whether common or rare or whatever. I want to enjoy the stuff, but I don't really want to put holes or sticky stuff on the rare items. What I recommend is the art of shrinkwrapping. I picked this one up from a collectible rock and roll posters guy I used to work record shows with. Basically, they back your rare or desirable poster with a piece of fitted cardboard, flatten it out completely, and shrink wrap the board. There's a thin border of extra cardboard around the edge so that the wrap isn't tugging down on (and wrinkling) the edges of the poster. This method is less expensive than framing, lighter, and more versatile for hanging. I'm sure you can have it done somewhere, just look around. It sure beats putting holes in the posters that you'll never see again.

If you're talking about a poster from Nintendo Power or something, sure. But if you're talking about some of the more obscure and rare flyers, some of them are VERY expensive. The Japanese ones are almost IMPOSSIBLE to find, and start under the $10 mark but can go a good bit higher. In the US, arcade machine flyers are even more expensive...I've seen some going for a couple hundred bucks for ONE flyer.

Framing the best isn't all that excessive, and I've been considering getting some cel books to put my other flyers on display in.

Shinkwrap however, is a BAD idea. The reason being is that the plastic in shrink wrap has acid in it. It's cheap plastic, and it WILL yellow your flyers when exposed to light. Same thing with a few other methods of display. It's all dependent on HOW rare and valuable what you're dealing with is. Some of the stuff you're asking for...VERY rare and fairly spendy. I'll take some pics of my two framed ones today. :D

Well, I think what I am asking for is not too rare .. I mostly just want promotional posters/flyers that fold out from magazines, especially from the Sonic and Ecco game series, but also posters advertising the MegaDrive, like the ones that were included with the machine to show off accessories and games .. Famicom/NES Stuff too .. I wouldn't expect those to be too rare.

Arcade flyers, yes, I suppose would be pretty rare. But I doubt most of these would be..

Heh. Didn't mean to start a battle. Yeah...the stuff you're talking about is far more common....not like the stuff I'm talking about :D

Normal shrink plastic, yes. This stuff is designed for preservation of the materials it wraps. In fact, the Fine Arts Museum here in the city has begun using it with archived pieces. So yes, precaution - don't shrink with the cheap stuff :)

I store all my classic game posters in a barrel of sulfuric acid, right next to my huge collection of unreleased prototypes.
