ok this game blew me away.

I rented this with a buddy yesterday and played it for over 12 straight hours without breaking. The only reason we stopped was to watch the saddam news at 6am.

I can now say that I am totally desensitized to violence.

I heard that at one point, you have to cut a guy's head off, as the head becomes a key to a puzzle later in the game. Needless to say, I need to at least rent this game someday. O_O

actaully we've been cutting off heads on almost everyone. I dont know if its part of a puzzle or if its just fun to chuck a human head at the patrolling guards (it freaks them out alot more than just chucking a bottle).

I thought it looked cool before I read the reviews, but now I think that it, like Kill Bill, might be a little too needlessly graphic, even for me.

I, too enjoy Manhunt. It has a lot of stealth and brutality but nothing too extreme. At least for me, that is.

heads are just another lure that makes noise, that uh...lures the hunters to position...but man you gotta give it up to the folks at rockstar they sure push the envelope on decent with each game they develop. only gripe is the time aspect of scoring makes you rush through the game.

I finally got a chance to play Manhunt for 12 hours or so this weekend. To me it seems to be derivative of Tenchu for PS1. Lots of stealth and sneaking up on your opponent for a sure kill.

The killing is terribly graphic and I actually found myself looking away at times. It's worth playing if there are no kids around.

Also, I could have done without some of the characters screaming out profanities so often you'd think it was a 6 year old that just learned the word "Fuck".

I'm going to try to finish it.

Glad Cue dug this topic out for me ;)

I, too, just started Manhunt, on a rent from Gamefly. I think the game is excellent. I wasn't crazy about Tenchu, but I like this game a lot. The stealth play in a 'realistic' setting got me, and the headset option works even better than I thought it would towards establishing the mood.

The violence is off the wall (Almost like Rockstar said "What, you don't like GTAIII's violence? Well, HOW, ABOUT, THIS"), but they could have lowered it and it'd still be as fun. The cursing is as bad as the violence... clearly, this game should not have been made, but... as long as it's only played by 17 and up, there should be no problem. :o This game should have gotten an AO rating, if you ask me.

My least favorite aspect of the game is the use of guns in shoot outs. It's as if Rockstar created two different games and the stealth portion is just a better game. Trying to aim with analog sticks sux IMHO.

I AGREEE WITH you compeltely!!
This is the only ps2 game I have played in the past 3 or 4 years. See the thing is I hate ps2 and xbox. I am a nintendo guy. But when I previewed it in magazines, and then one of my buddy's rented it, it looked so bad ass. It was. I love the sneaking around and all the stealth action. I also think it adds a 100% to the game that the bad guys are wearing masks and sort.

I've always wondered if this was used as a test bed for certain features for the next GTA

Holy crap, haha. If it's been more than 2 weeks, play it til you're done with it... you wont get any larger of a fee. By now they already assume that you aren't going to return it and have charged the game to credit card (if you have one on the account)... and unless you need that money right now, just keep the game until you finish it. When you return it, explain that it's incredibly late and they'll credit you the cost of the game.
