Hello, I wan't to convert the cinpak movies on my harddrive into avi's. I have the one dos based program that I can't get to work, I was wondering if anybody knows of a windows based program that will do it?

There are TWO DOS-based programs. One works very well, the other works but the AVI's come out looking really lame. What's the name of your program and what's the error?
I was able to rip some stuff off the JPN release quite easily.

I pulled it off of rpgfan.com, It's simply called cpktoavi It's not so much an error I just don't know dos at all I've got xp and I can't even get to the dos prompt.

Windows XP doesn't HAVE DOS though. It EMULATES DOS. Which could be your problem.
You might want to try finding a DOS boot disk, and go that way.

That's definitely not the problem, b/c Win2k doesn't have DOS either, and I've been able to rip videos in Win2k.
Try this one:

The download links are on the right (near the FTP and HTTP buttons). I can't remember if this is the right one, but basically, just stick it in a directory, and stick your CPK file in there. Let's say it's called PDSaga.cpk. Then open up a DOS window (many ways to do this. One easy way is start button->run-> type "cmd" in that little text box). Then cd to where ever the file is. You can always just type the command (acpk2avi in this case) and see what happens. It will print out the correct syntax, which I think is:
acpk2avi [input] [output] in this case, that would mean
acpk2avi PDSaga.cpk PDSaga.avi
This will make a pretty lame AVI file. Run it through Virtual Dub and use an up-to-date codec to make the file much smaller, w/ the same video quality.
