I would love a Hyper Neo-Geo 64 racing cab. I never knew of anyone who owned one that worked and I would love to try the racers out.

If I had to pick one I'd played it'd be Mr. Driller 2.

I'd love a sit down Spy Hunter cab or any sit down racing cabinet (not the motorcycle games though).

Have you guy been to one of those Uber arcades where they have a row of Formula 1 type racing cockpits networked with individual big screen displays? Owning one of those would rock!

Dispite that i own a Neo•Geo AES, i still plan on getting a MVS, 4 slot if possible, but will settle for a 2 slot.... but you said disregard that machine so....

i would love to own a Killer Instinct Cab. that game is one of my favs, and the port on the snes isnt anythiing close to the cabs power.

Anybody here remember the old arcade game Mat Mania? Man they used to have one at a local wal mart and my papaw would take me up there and let me play it all the time. Wouldn't mind getting hold of one of those.

After that i'm going Ms. Pac-man and Street Fighter 2 Turbo

I'd have to choose a game that's never been brought out in a (good) home version in the U.S. and thus I'm torn between Crazy Climber and Lunar Lander. I would probably go with Crazy Climber...I think that may have more lasting appeal to me. I know there was a home version on some system or other in Japan but I have no import systems so I couldn't play it even if I got a copy. Maybe someday it'll find it's way into another arcade collection...

Galaga hands down. I've easily spent at least $200 in the arcade cab at the local arcade. It is the only game that has never been rotated out of the arcade since my childhood (I'm 24), and the g/f can spend hours at the mall, leaving me pumping more and more quarters into it.

an F-Zero AX machine

Maybe some Metal Slug machines to =)

Has to be Lucky & Wild by Namco. I'd say it was a shame it never got a home version, but it isn't- nothing can replicate the machine itself.

Call me crazy but I'd love to have a Simpsons arcade cabinet, failing that the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles would be my first choice.

I will have my own arcade someday and it will have these games.

X-Men, the one with Wolverine, Cyclops, Dazzler, and Colosus

1945
Star Wars Trilogy
Turkey Hunter
Lethal Enforcer
Donkey Kong
T2
Crusin the World with 4 person capability
and I want Lucky and Wild too

I'd have one now if I didn't have to go 900 miles to get one. We really don't have arcades in the South like the the Mid-West

Well, if I could only own one Arcade machine it would be a Neo Geo 4 slot MVS... But I won't mind owning TMNT 4-player or the old Super Punch Out game.... I loved that one.

Mrs. Pac Man..Not only is it classic, it also holds so many memories that make up my childhood, like slaughtering friends and the high score they had..I also like the videos they have after each level. Those were neat back in the day.

i'm gonna have to say the simpsons arcade game that they use to post up at chuck-e-cheese

starchildskiss78
09-02-2006, 07:24 PM
This is an easy question!

Ms. Pac Man would be my number one choice. I played it a LOT growing up. My second choice would be Super Mario Bros. (a donut shop had one that I'd play every time my parents would take me there) and my third would be Crazy Taxi...

This should be a throw back.

Donkey Kong 3

Runners up would be.

Tailgunner Cockpit. I played the uppright first. But, when I found they had a cockpit version of it i never looked back.

The answer is a no brainer for me: Galaga! Galaga! Galaga! Galaga!!!!

Now if I had a MAME box with Galaga on it, that would be cool. However, if I had to choose between Galaga and the MAME box I would pick: Galaga!!!!

I made the above post over 2 and a half years ago. A lot has changed since then and I have given the matter a lot of thought. I thought of the days of my young adulthood in the early to mid-eighties and of the different arcades I thought were really cool: Out-Run, Dragon's Lair, Marble Madness, Star Wars and so on. This made me rethink my earlier decision about Galaga. Galaga's is a decent shmup but, after all, it's still a rather basic game. Does it have the incredible graphics of Dragon's Lair? No. The cool trackball that Marble Madness has? No. Does it have a unbelievable setup like Out Run where you sit in a mockup car that turns and dips whenever you adjust the acceleration and steering wheel? Definetly not. So perhaps Galaga isn't my first choice. But, of all he alternatives, which one do I pick? There were too many choices.

At first I drew upon my Engineering training to help me make my decision: I drew charts, I plotted data, I built a decision matrix and made all sorts of pro and con tables. Heck, I even wrote a program or too to sort out the data. After the smoke cleared I discovered that there was no definitive answer. I had to try a different approach.

And so last weekend I put on my hiking boots, grabbed my backpack and took a long hike into the nearby foothills. After several hours of strenous hiking I found a secluded location, sat down and contemplated the silence around me. A dog barking, a gust of wind, a car and other sounds I could hear in the silenece were captured and put into a distant part of my mind so I could concentrate on the task at hand: what is my first choice for an arcade? At first I was at a loss and all I saw was a gray cloud of indecision. However, as time went by I was better able to focus my thoughts and slowly a clearer picture began to form...

Suddenly it was clear to me! I stood up suddenly and saw my decision clearly before me. I nearly ran down the foothills so I could get home, boot up my PC and put my thoughts into words.

And the final answer? What arcade would I get before all others? After all this thought and deliberation?

Why...

It's...

It's...

It's....

GALAGA!!!!!!!!

How could I be so blind to think it was anything else?

TMNT, or simpsons. mostly because those are the games (of the very few arcades i got to play) that i played the most. and are simultanious multiplayer.

now that i think about it, they are essentially the same game with different gfx and levels and tweaked gameplay and both Konami.

have the NES port of TMNT and while it's cool, doesn't do it justice. (in gfx nor gameplay)

@ubikuberalles: Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

Galaga would be my pick, too, but a Star Castle would also be pretty flippin sweet.

Any House of the dead cabinets

Time crisis

Street Fighter 2, no question. I think I'd go with the original.

There's something to be said when you walk into an arcade with all sorts of new and old machines, and the most popular one is SF2.

Damn, it's been three and a half years since I answered this question! Now, new answer...

I'd be up for a Centipede or Ms. Pac-Man cocktail cab. It's just such a great conversation piece that doubles as a coffee table, sitting right in the middle of my living room... When I have enough disposable income, one will become mine.

Oh yes. It will be mine.
