Ever had trouble going back to an older game because a newer game has a similar control scheme?

Last night, I pulled NBA Showtime (one of my favorite Dreamcast games of all time) out and discovered that I had to relearn the controls because my hands were so used to playing NBA Street Vol. 2 on the 'Cube. I got so used to doing those oddball, Harlem Globetrotter-style moves that it was hard to go back to playing Showtime, which is similar but not as fancy. I got my butt kicked in the first game, but I recovered on the second try.

It also happened to me once before when I tried the original Tony Hawk after getting used to doing the manuals that were a big part of the sequels that followed.

Anybody else had this happen?

I have the same problems a lot. Alot of times I get the jump button on platform games mixed up with the fire button on shooters. I hate it but its a habit.

Well, it has nothing to do with older or newer but moving from PS2 to XBOX versions of Vice City gives me trouble to no end. The control scheme is totally different.

I'm having a hard time playing Protector on the Vectrex, since I got so used to all the other versions of Defender (2600, MAME, etc) having simplified control schemes.

Several of the NFL games have different controls. The other day I was playing the new NFL Blitz, and while returning the ball I went to jump and just dove nose first into the turf without another soul around.
