Recently my girlfriend has been getting into RPGs.
At first she only liked Lunar 1 and 2 for Playstation because there were no random battles, but recently she played through Vay with me and now she keeps taking the controller away from me when i'm playing Lufia!
All of the games seem to be on the cuter side, at least with the characters and such.
Does anyone have some similar RPG's to suggest for her to play?
:) Thanks

Try Super Mario RPG. It's probably my favorite RPG of all time. :)

I second Harvest Moon (PS1 Back to Nature is better than the PS2 Save the Homeland), and I would also say Dark Cloud 2 because the characters are all cutesy, but it's lots of fun. Plus, it's got a neat invention system that involves photography.
I have Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter and Wild Arms 3 here unopened. I bought them both from Circuit City for $9.99 each. Even if they aren't marked for that, they'll come out for that price. I've seen good reviews for both of them. I'm not really an RPG fan, but for $10, you can't go wrong.

I'm not a big RPGer, but even I loved these games that would probably count as "cute":
Dreamcast
Grandia II. It's got a unique battle system, and overall it just rules.
Super Nintendo
Earthbound. Best RPG EVER. Find it, play it, love it!

Final Fantasy IX is an excellent lighthearted RPG, so long as she can handle the random combat. Then again, if Vay's frequent battles didn't bother her, not much will.
Earthbound, Super Mario RPG, and Paper Mario are great choices as well, and Chrono Trigger has a playful atmosphere that keeps it from getting too grim.
The original Grandia and Skies of Arcadia might fit the bill, though I think they're kind of saccharine. The same could be said for the simplistic Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, even if it has a pleasantly cynical undertone.
If she likes Vay and the Lunar titles, she might enjoy Popful Mail, an action/RPG for the Sega CD. It's cute in a satirical way, and the translation is quite clever.
Still, it seems as though your girlfriend is getting into RPGs in general, and not just the "cute" ones. See how she responds to a Suikoden game, or perhaps one of the grittier Final Fantasies. Or maybe even Planescape: Torment. It's got that lovable talking skull, Morte.

I hear Rhapsody (PSX) is a good, cute RPG. Haven't personally played it myself, but I've heard from others.
Oh yes, I must also recommend Earthbound as well.
And Secret of Mana. :rocker:

Eh...Morte is funny, I agree, but Torment is just about the polar opposite of "cute."
Pokemon is a decent RPG-type game that is generally cute.

I have played it myself (and it's in my "permanent" Playstation collection). It's a surprisingly well done...tactical/RPG. The "Evil Queen" scene has to be seen to be believed. :D

PokeMon channel. Havn't playd it yet but its suppose to be "cute". I hear its replay value dies out after a little while though. I would rent it with your woman and give it a shot.

Another vote for Grandia. The relationship between Justin and Feena has the same innocent feel Alex and Luna's had in Lunar: TSS and Lunar: SSSC. While Grandia 2 is a great game, Ryudo was a player...and everyone knows Xtreme sucks monkey balls....
Perhaps I little Wild Arms? Followed by some Tales of Destiny or Eternia?? Dual Hearts is rather cute. Sometimes I wish I had a plush Tumble to ride...though now I've said to much...so...
Also, can't go wrong with Chrono Trigger. Crono and I have been pulling all nighters this week....

I'd have to vote for Earthbound. I absolutely hate the game myself, but it's definitely "cute"...

thx for this post, i can use all your suggestions too as my girlfriend also like cute rpgs the most!!
most of the snes rpgs fall into this category, some more, some less, just think of Lufia 1+2, Terranigma, SoM, SD3, ToP, Earthbound and Zelda

Eh...Morte is funny, I agree, but Torment is just about the polar opposite of "cute."
Hence, its inclusion among the darker RPGs suggested, and the somewhat facetious remark about Morte. Oh well, it wasn't much of a joke anyway.
One game that I forgot to mention is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. Though it's a strategy/RPG, the complexities of battle are easy to learn, and there's a lot to do in the way of sidequests. And it's cute. Very, very cute.

what no kingdom hearts?
Harvest moons is really great, however i'd still think the n64 version is the best.. the new GBA one has soo many translation and general button errors it's just blah, then i'd go with mario rpg

what no kingdom hearts?
I was just going to say that. :)
It doesn't get any cuter than Disney characters!

You've got to get her Magic Pengel. I rented it yesterday and I'm already falling in love with it... it's a charming game that allows you to create your own character, by drawing it. Your fighter's abilities depend largely on how you drew the character and what colors you used to make it.
I'll have to take it back tomorrow, but I just don't want to let it go! Anyone want to trade their copy for a copy of Lunar: Silver Star Story or Alundra?

yeah, super mario rpg had me hooked (even with the cuteness factor). if you got a snes, there was a mario rpg for that one too. think it was super mario and the quest for the seven stars (is this correct). kingdom hearts is good cutesy game too.

Alright - lets think about this. You are playing a game. Your girlfriend takes the controller away from you. At this point, you're no longer playing a game...
Meaning we should FIX this situation, not find more games for her to play on her own. ;)
Secret of Mana is a great multi-player action RPG... and it's got all the "cute" you need.
Tales of Destiny is a great multiplayer RPG... it's also got all the "cute" you need.
Final Fantasy 3 is a... multiplayer RPG. Sensing a trend?
But hey, if you just want 'cute', there's plenty of good games recommended above! I haven't seen Jade Cacoon 2 mentioned, though - it's a really fun game that not many people tried (the 1st one wasn't really that great...).

I usually can't stand to play most RPG's for more than a few minutes but some of the cute ones I could play for hours:
Earthbound, Mario RPG, and the new Gameboy Advance game Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga.
