I just caved in and joined modern gaming. I bought a brand new copy of Guitar Hero 3 today. I suck at it. The problem is that I'm a bass player in real life and I keep missing the notes because I'm used to the fret spacing on my basses. LOL Picked up a mint copy of The Prince Of Persia Sands Of Time along with the Brady guide for Xbox. It's one game that I've never owned but have always intended on playing.

Between school and just doing other stuff I've been wanting to spend time on (which is still gaming related, like reading my Star Ocean manga, haha), I haven't been playing that much. All I've really been playing is some Magi Nation on my Game Boy Advance SP at school, since I was ready to move onto another GBC game. With all the tri-Ace stuff lately, I didn't really want to start up another RPG, but considering I'm almost done with my GBC collection, I didn't have many options left. So far it's not too bad. I'm up to the Underneath, or whatever the heck the mushroom-y place is called. It's coming off a bit generic, like a Western company trying to rip off Pokemon and other Japanese RPGs rather than making their own unique game, but the card-based battle system is pretty fun (but I do find myself skipping most battles since it's easy to avoid them). Probably the worst thing about the game is what little American influence it does have, though. I swear, this character art is god awful. It's like they hired some 14-year-old kid off of DeviantArt who loves anime but like to give his design an American "edge" by making everybody dress in sweatshirts with huge baggy pants that nearly hide their sneakers at the bottom. And then that attitude in carried over into the game in which Tony Jones, the hero, is always making snarky, punk kid comments that fail to be funny 9 times out of 10. Well, the graphics have some issues too. The sprites for human characters look terrible, but monsters look pretty good. The graphics are inconsistent in general. Some things look quite nice but others look so amateur. Oh well, minor problems aside, it's been reasonably fun to play.

Other than that, I played some Neo Turf Masters via MAME and some Super Mario Kart via emulation as well, both at school.

Turning the final corner to beat Prince of Persia (PS3)

Also played NES Play Action Football (NES); got my new 72 pin in the mail yesterday and this was the game i tested after installing the new ones; played a full game works 100%!

And today I picked up Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection (ps3); played about 10 of the different games and collected around 8 trophies. Great Compilation game!

-NBA Inside Drive 2002 (Xbox): My thoughts= As good a b-ball game as ANYTHING from 2K. I'm using Season Mode with a Fantasy Drafted roster. My team smokes. The starting lineup includes Penny, Pippen and Antoine Walker. Three of my favorite ballers of all time!!! Bench has Ewing, Chris Mullin, Christian Laettner, Dana Barros and others. Only negative here is that there is no multi season Franchise Mode, just a single season. But at least the computer teams offer you several trades a season, which gives it more realism, unlike most of the 2K games when you're in Franchise Mode. The Inside Drive games are an Xbox exclusive and I wish the series hadn't been killed. A very fast-paced, exciting, arcade-style dunkfest. Just amazing stuff.


-Madden 06 (Xbox): Decided to live dangerously and fool with the AI sliders. So I turned up the Injury slider all the way to the maximum. How'd that go? Had the following injuries all occur in the very next game......Lost my first string running back to injury for 2 weeks on the first carry of the game. Lost my second string running back for the remainder of the season in the third quarter, leaving me with Fred McAfee to tote the rock. Lost 2 of my OLB's in one quarter (thankfully neither one is gone for the whole Season). Lost my starting QB for 2 quarters, lost 2 CB's (one for 3 weeks and one for the rest of the season) and lost one SS for 2 weeks.


-Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fall of the Foot Clan (Gameboy): Played through two levels, taking me about 10 minutes. Played just long enough to test a "broken" Gameboy Pocket that had been given to me for free from a shop owner who didn't want it. Turns out the A button is fairly unresponsive unless you press it down really hard but otherwise the system works great.
