MK: Double Dash. I seriously can not wait to try the LAN mode, I just think that is soo cool. Can't be nothin better than 8-player Kart.

Tough one here, but I think F-Zero gets my vote. This series needed an update, and we sertainly got one. The sense of speed in this game was great, the tracks looked nice, and the custom ship idea, really helped you feel more into the game. I wish I could have found the arcade version of this game, as I would have loved to try out the connectivity.

Simpsons Hit and Run, nice idea for the simpson game series because driving is not something you would think of when you think of the simpsons.

Burnout 2 Point of Impact. Best Racing Game by far. I still play this one almost everyday. The crash mod is Godly. I think it came out this year.

If not, Nascar Thunder 2004 or Project Gotham Racing 2.

MK: Double Dash. The dual-player method is just too innovative and unique to ignore. Like most good ideas by Nintendo, you can expect to see it copied badly by someone next year.

And why is NFS: Underground not on this list...I mean, as long we're nominating write-in candidates ( ), why can't we just add another? I wouldn't vote for it personally because it doesn't shake things up enough, but the stunning graphics and play control alone certainly deserve a nod.

The same is also true for Project Gotham Racing 2, which is perhaps even more deserving of a nomination than NFS:U.

MK:DD is my favorite of the ones listed...I didn't consider Crimson Skies and the Simpsons games as racing games??? Maybe I missed something (since I haven't played either one)...

I must have missed the nomination thread...I would have nominated Burnout 2 as well ;)

Not sure why Simpsons Hit & Run and Crimson Skies are on here. I consider racing games to be "driving" games and S: H&R spreads over too many genres to really fall in that single category. And Crimson Skies is more of a flyer than a driver.

Since PGR 2 isn't on the list, I chose APEX. Not ONLY do you get to race in a game with some pretty realistic looking graphics (second to PGR 2) but you also get to build up your own car company. Yeah, so the company side is not that in depth but you can choose the model of car to research. A great solid game that wasn't too "sim-y" (like Gran Turismo) but wasn't overly "arcade-y" either. Add in the fact that you can also play your own tunes with the Xbox's soundtrack feature and it just gets better. Why would you WANT to listen to THEIR music when you can play Slipknot (or any other heavy CD you may own) and tear up the track?
