Voting for LOTR: Two Towers. Personally glad to see that Enter The Matrix didn't make the cut :)

I didn't play any movie based games this year, so I'm kinda on the fence with this one.

It's not that bad to me...but LOTR: Two Towers is simply much better.

The Hulk was good, but not "fifty bucks good". :)

Maybe because it's not based on the movie? Or maybe because you didn't reply to the nomination thread when it was flying around all month?

I'll choose answer #2 because, without the TRON movie, there would be no TRON 2.0 game, of course.

I would say this game doesn't qualify for that category. TRON 2.0 is based on the TRON universe but not in any way on the TRON movie.

From the official website:

20 years later, Alan Bradley, creator of the original Tron program, has finally replicated the technology needed to successfully digitize a human being into the computer. The secret lies in Ma3a, an artificial intelligence program sophisticated enough to hold within its memory the complete genetic makeup of a human being, and the correction algorithms required to safely restore one to the physical world.

Unfortunately, Alan’s company is on the verge of a corporate takeover. Future Control Industries (fCon) has learned of Alan’s discovery and is interested in the technology for their own nefarious purposes. By digitizing specially trained hackers codenamed DataWraiths, fCon plans to infiltrate the world’s computer networks from the inside.

When Alan suddenly disappears under mysterious circumstances, his son Jet, a talented young computer programmer, enters the world inside the computer in search of answers. He discovers a sinister plot spinning out of control that threatens to corrupt one reality and forever transform another.

Finding his father is paramount, but getting out alive is equally important. To do this, Jet must find within himself the strength to come to terms with his very different father, as well as overcome the otherworldly adversaries encountered in this strange but fantastical world of Tron.

I understand what you're saying... But I think you've overstated it...

What exactly is "the TRON universe"? The one & only TRON movie? Or do you also mean the arcade & console games that were also based directly on the movie?

It's not that complicated. My opinion is simply that TRON 2.0 is not based on the movie TRON, just as I would say Bounty Hunter is not based on the movie Star Wars.

Both of these games are based on a "universe", a mythos created from the movies but are not based on the movies themselves.

At the risk of sounding Clinton-esque, I guess it depends on what your definition of "based" is.

I'd have to say it's two towers for the PS 2....But you know what, I'm not qualified to say that because I've not seen any of the movies or read any of the books! What kind of geak am I that's not seen or read any Lord Of The Rings? For that matter, I know nothing about StarTrek!!!
I'm in the middle of the Two Towers game & it's a ton of fun!
