Since this topic seems to come up quite frequently here, and since I have way too much Sega hardware, I put together this guide for all to use. Enjoy!

Thanks for the play-by-play, Blackjax. My only problem is that I have the metal bottom for a Sega CD Model 2, and I recently acquired a Sega CD Model 1. I still plan to pick up some Sega CD games when I go home this weekend if they're still there...

I don't have a CD OR a 32X, and I still read the whole thing. Nice job. It's always nice when someone gives back a little.

I have had no problems with 32x games, I have found out actually that some Sega CD games do not work on the CDX correctly as they lock up or do not run at all.

There were a few that don't work:

Who Shot Johnny Rock?
The Terminator (and the beta version)
Jurassic Park (and the beta)
Radical Rex

Some people also gripe about the Lunars freezing, but it's never happened to me.

Excellent step-by-step instructions! 8-)

I had no problem hooking up my Genesis 1 and tray-loader Sega CD -- my only gripe is that the CD tray refuses to open. I've just gotta get inside the thing and find out what's out of place. Luckily, my PC emulator plays the discs just fine for now; Sonic CD and Spiderman are both pretty bad-ass, but it'd be more fun with an actual Genesis controller.

At the moment, I have no need for a 32X. But I probably will eventually (of course). Thanks in advance, then, for the hookup directions. :)

Nice!

...Now if only those *damn* 32x to Genesis connectors grew on trees, then I'd be back in business after my last move, *grumble*.

Final bump 'fore I let this slide into the depths of the archive... 8-)
