Thanks for posting that, but the before Christmas sales are only decent at most...and the after Christmas sales are some of the weakest I've ever seen EB run.

maybe it's cause FF Originis doesn't "exist" to them? :P

Wow. Just wow. Those deals are fucking terrible. Every single one of them pretty much. Why the fuck even bother putting out a flyer if your deals are that emberassingly bad? The one that stood out the most was the "pre-played NBA 2k3 for only $9.99!" Oh yay, you mean I can get your shitty former-blockbuster-rental copy of an outdated sports game for the same price everywhere else is selling the new one? Here's hoping Gamestop and the other retailers hand them their ass this holiday season.

Yeah, alright, whatever.

You do remember, of course, that EB/GameStop/Funcoland/Babbage's are all part of the same company.
So if GameStop is blowing out everything and making a killing, it doesn't matter much that EB suffers. I'm sure they'll make it up on the markups from their lowball trade-in prices after the holiday season anyway.
Want deals? Wait until next week, when all that holiday merchandise goes clearance at Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart, etc... :)
From the looks of things, there's probably gonna be a serious pile of PSone games out there for less than $10 if you look.

Actually I'm pretty sure that there are two main companies:
The first company consists of Gamestop and Funcoland (and maybe one other name, but they're all the same store)
The other is EB/Babbages and again, perhaps one other "name."
If they were the same company, they most likely wouldn't have one of each in my local mall, and two strip mall locations very close together a few miles apart.

My GameStop receipts list all four stores as being able to accept returns... :o
EDIT: I was just proven incorrect on this point; read further...

Last I heard it was EB and then Gamestop (which is Babbages, Software Etc., Funcoland and one other).

I apologize. GameStop, Babbage's, Software Etc. and Funcoland are the four stores on my receipt.
So in that case, I guess EB's sale really does suck that badly. x_x

Funny you mention that. A local mall(Dayton) has a Funcoland upstairs and a Gamestop downstairs. (Or something ot that effect)
A local shopping plaza(Florence, KY) has a Funcoland in the same lot as Gamestop.
Why? Because they were competing against each other before Gamestop bought Funco. And both stores in both locations do tons of business.

Lets face it, game chains like EB do not cater to hardly anyone on this site. They sell to the general public, and dont do a good job of it. I am going to go out on a limb and say the probably the transition to disc format might have something to do with it(not everything though). Whenever I buy a used game now(talking about disc games), about one third of them are not in collectable shape. They are often scratched or are missing the case. This makes me not want to buy a used game. There is hardly any big chains that carry anything before Nintendo. EB does not care about condition, boxes. This really sucks. Their prices, arent really great, and with everyone selling games now, they dont have a real exclusive edge anymore. I would rather buy online, through ebay, or yard sale. I only go to them for store credit for a good deal on new games....which isnt very often. If there is one market that seems to be forgotten about, it is a vintage game chain(I am talking like a nation wide chain) that caters to people like us. I hate the fact that every main game store is starting to look the same. Does anyone else agree???

You know what I love? My local game shop! I go in there all the time, and they still carry a ton of the classics. I think Cmosfm of these boards also frequents it, it's the Video Game Cavern. I've never had a problem with anything I've bought there, from Atari 2600 all the way to used Gamecube games. If you're ever passing though SC (for some ungodly reason) check 'em out:
www.videogamecavern.com
It's also nice that they undercut EB and Gamestop by $5-10 on new releases and as much as $15 on used games. A new upstart chain (Rhino Video Games) moved across the street and it's like EB's little brother, right down to the yellow preowned tags, and they don't stand a chance. SYLVGS*!!!

@ Oobgarm - Yeah, the Gamestop on the first floor at the Dayton Mall tends to have good deals on PC stuff...I got Takeout Wight Curling there (a great game BTW...) for 99 cents new!! I used to do pretty good on Genesis games at the place on the 2nd floor :)
Just be glad that the Babbage's that used to be there went out of business...or else you'd really have a clusterFunco on your hands. ;)
Not as bad as Columbus though, we are absolutely saturated as far as video game retailers go. At last count...4 Best Buys, 8 EBs (at Polaris...the 2 EBs are DIRECTLY above each other), 6 Gamestops (2 on the same road), an uncountable # of "Video Game Express / Trading Zone / Video Trader" type stores...it's almost a relief that the 7-8 KBs are getting out of the market...CompUSA needs to get out next :)
I used to see it as a good thing, but there isn't enough variety for there to be any real competition...heck even the "mom & pop stores" are big chains number wise here... :o
I still go to certain stores because of exceptional service...but I rarely go out looking for "deals" anymore :(
