View Full Version : Would eBay let me link to a txt file for a feedback comment?

Rather than saying "Bad Seller, screwed me, ripped me off, yada yada", I've been thinking about writing up a text file on my website that i'll link to whenever I leave negative or neutral feed back. An example....

Item Number - 3061870649
Seller - melancholy_burning(brush_the_dust_away@excite.com)
Item - "Lunar Eternal Blue Sega CD US Complete BIN"
Ending Bid - $20.00 (BIN)
Shipping Cost - $3.50
Form Of Payment - Money Order
Payment Sent - 11/29
Payment Recieved (According To Seller) - 12/8. Was told "The game will be mailed out sometime over the next few days when I have the opportunity."

Item Recieved - 12/19
Item Sent (According to Postage Stamp) - 12/17
Cost on Package for Shipping - $3.85

Complaints - The item came extremely late, it seems like the person realized that he took too

long and sent it by Priority Mail. If he sent it by Media Mail that would have been fine.

Item came in the Priority Mail envelope... That's it. NO PACKING WHAT SO EVER!

"The manual has some wear" says the Seller, The manual came with huge chunks missing on the

cover, it looks like a dog was chewing on it!

Do you think eBay would have a problem with this?

Thanks :)

I really hate the ebay feedback system, I always have more to write. That is a good idea, maybe I should start putting links to my full feedback on my website.

Not a bad idea at all. I'm not entirely sure it's legal under eBay rules, as they're very picky about what you can link to and where. If no one noticed, though, it might be worth it to try.

Let us know how it works out... :)

PS: That seller sure took his time, eh?

It is against E-Bay rules to post a link of any kind in feedback. If you do so, the seller(or buyer) can have the feedback removed: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/fdbk-feedback-abuse.html . This is the way that people "back in the day" had negitive feedbacks removed. Not many people knew that if you responded to a feedback comment with some cussing or a link(just about any rule breaking response), they would remove the entire feedback. I hope this helps you on your choice,
Tony

I asked the same question in another thread just recently. That was the general concensus there too as well.

The only thing I think would be legal is to say, "this guy ripped me off, e-mail me for details" or something and if people e-mail you, send them the link.

I would make the text file anyway and link to it in all your auctions and blast the guys name. Might not do any good but would make me laugh a lot.

I once had a fence place try and rip me off and I told them I was going to dedicate the rest of my life to printing flyers and posting them on every fence in town, putting them on windshields, and handing them out to people on the street before they finally quit bothering me.

You can get in a lot of trouble for doing this.

As was said was earlier, just tell people to contact you for more input. Its about the only thing you can do.
