You must do it slowly. For example, if you just start calling your xBox "Judy" out of the blue one day, it will most likely become confused by the name change and not answer to either one. The best way is to start using the new name ("Judy") when referring to the xBox. Also, lots of praise will make the transition easier. Ask "Judy" if it would like to play a game. While loading, place your hand on top of it, patting gently and say, "that's very good, Judy." You might also get one of those name tags that reads, "Hello My Name Is" and write "Judy" on it. Place the sticker directly on the front of the xBox. Being consistant and firm will let your xBox know that you mean business. It CAN be done, but it takes time and effort.

Here are a couple of untested (by me) techniques. I believe others exist:
Dead or Alive 3: Play Survival Mode or Time Attack Mode and get ranked in a top spot. Enter the name that you wish to change your pre-assigned Xbox name to. This will now be the title your Xbox is referred to during linked play. Note: This will only work one time, so be sure that you enter the name you wish to permanently have for your console.
Cel Damage: When you create a new file, whatever you name it becomes the new Xbox name.
