Easy for us ;) Only need 15 to qualify for the random drawing, but I bet all 40 might help. ;)

Older Arcade games... I'm getting my butt kicked on this contest. KLOV is helping a bit for games that got name changes to console but... yech...

ah well not like 80% of this board couldn't answer them anyway.
p.s. #23 is wrong :P

I haven't seen any answer provided by Griking, but so far, I have 24 answers out of 40.
Come on people! It's feasible to get 40/40 or almost... just do enough research and you'll find the answers, I'm sure. Of course, it'd be easier if mame.dk were still online, but even without it, it's feasible.
Besides, didn't they write that they only require 15 right answers out of 40 to be eligible?

I was only able to get 16/40. The early-early stuff was before my time, so anything vector or pre-88 is usually beyond me. Had to do some research for a few of the games.

Since I have MAME and have gone through massive screenshot making for it (I like having the whole shebang: screenshot, marquee, cabinet, etc.), there were some games that I recognized that I wouldn't have had otherwise.
Out of the remaining 16 titles in the contest, 4 ring a bell. The other 12 are just a mystery to me, or they're titles I haven't played enough of to recognize off the bat.
Among those I already identified, there were several that were of the "damn, I know this game... what's it called again?" variation, such as number 38 (I know this one thanks to screenshot making, not because I remember it from the arcade).

Sorry guys, I didn't mean to spoil anyone's fun. :embarrassed:
I just assumed that everyone here would be swapping answers anyways.

I got 31/40 and I'm sure I've played the other 9 in Mame before, just can't quite matchup the names. Mame addict btw :D

I'm now up to 31/40, and there were some that I really didn't know (used my powers of observation... heh). Tomorrow, I'll fire up my copy of MAME (which is currently off my computer for space reasons) and will look at some screenshots since I can add at least one more title in my entry (another one of those "I've seen this game before" syndromes).

I think I have about half of them. I'm not looking for help, but what is #28? I recognize it, and know I used to love playing it, but for the life of me I don't remember what it is. I wanna check it out in MAME!

You better check your answers because #28 is super obvious and probably the easiest to identify. Now the one under it is #32 and I'll send you a PM with the name of that game :)

My bad, #32 is what I was looking for. The numbering is really bad on these, as the number above the image is closer, although it doesn't go with it.

I'm curious how the rest of you made out with these. I've spent the last 90 minutes or so on this, and I still can't figure out 11 of them. And I'm fairly certain another that I came up with an answer for is wrong. So that leaves me getting 28 out of 40.
Damn.
In case anybody's curious, I'm having trouble with:
3
6
7
10
12
16
29
32
36
37
38
and I'm pretty sure I got 20 wrong.
I could swear I know #3, but I can't find any mention of the game I think it is online, at KLOV, here, Google, or anywhere else.
Anybody get all 40?
NoahsMyBro

Well, shoot, I should have posted earlier - it jogged something, because I now just got another 3 of them!
(29, 36, & 38)
So I'm still missing 8 or 9 out of 40.

Only just come into this thread to see what it was about... checked the link, and off the bat I could identify about 30 of them 8-)
I'm missing 3, 7, 10, 12, 13, 16, 20, 30, 37 and 38...

I think I was stumped by a lot of the ones you have on your unanswered list. I'm sent in 33/40 and I knew these off your list:
7, 12, 20, 32, 36, 38

I DID post my answers a while back and was slammed for it.
Am i right in thinking that it looks like people are looking for the answers now?
Lady Jaye
12-29-2003, 07:11 AM
No, posting which numbers we really couldn't find doesn't mean that we want the answers right now. We're simply comparing where we got stumped (apparently, #3 really got everyone, including me).
Once the contest's over (I believe the deadline to participate is Dec. 31), then we could share which number was what game.

Haha, I just got #3 this morning after looking at the page again. Mainly because (hint) I noticed all the games are ordered in reverse alphabetical order from Z to A LOL
NoahsMyBro
12-29-2003, 12:11 PM
Yesterday I gave up and sent in my then-current total of 35 out of 40, with 1 being most likely wrong.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I didn't notice the alphabetical arrangement. I fully expect to get the rest with no trouble now. And Griking, Lady Jaye is right - I don't want to see the answers yet. Mostly, I wanted to see how other people were doing compared to me, and if they were stumped by the same games as I was.
Lady Jaye
12-29-2003, 12:46 PM
Wow. I didn't notice the reversed alphabetical order. Oh well. I already sent my answers. :P

Yeah, I noticed the alphabetical order thing... definitely helped out in pinning a few down. BUT unless I'm seriously off the mark, the ENTIRE list wasn't completely in order, I think there were a few others tossed in there.
I'm surprised how much trouble #3 gave everyone. Not comic book fans I take it!

12-29-2003, 01:13 PM
I'm a comic book fan, but I wasn't sure which it would be (although I now have my idea which game it is). Maybe I should have written down a guess. Anyways, I didn't feel like getting my MAME CD into my computer to look more closely.

#3 wasn't so much of a "what is that?" problem as much as a "which of the many games the recognizable character is in could this be?" problem
-AG
I was able to identify 27 of them. Did anyone get #16 and/or #37? #16 looks really familiar to me...
