I want to know the value of the pirate games for the Nes. żIs more valuable a Famicom pirate cart than a Nes pirate cart? What type of games are worth more: hacked games, Famicom games not released outside of Japan as Nes carts, etc? Any help would be appreciated.

They're all pretty much worth nothing :)
At least as far as collectors go, for playability, if it's got a lot of games you like, it could be worth a fortune, to you.

To each his own....or.....One man's trash, is another man's treasure.

I collect NES heavily. I enjoy the multi/pirate carts. Therefore, I am willing to pay more than the average Joe.What is the huge difference between the hacks released now for other system/homebrews, and those released during the systems life. Sometimes a little, sometimes a lot. It will probably be awhile before we see a legit aftermarket release for the NES (By a collector or otherwise) because of the price involved. Last I checked any multi for the NES could bring in atleast 20-30 dollars.

Just a bucnh of thoughts thrown together.

I think it all really just depends on who you are, what you like, how you collect.

Although the value is not that high, some nes pirate carts are great. The lower the number, usually the better they are. For example, a 999999 in 1 will generally have only a few games. Each game will be hacked all to hell to pad out the number of games on the selection screen. But a 42 in 1, or 32 in 1, or 21 in 1 will usually have the said number of unique games. The only hacking will be the copyright info (and sometimes the title) on the title screen. Furthermore, they usually contain a good assortment of early-era famicom only games that were not released over here but play great. Finally, most pirate nes carts are actually famicom boards with a converter inside the casing.

I guess my advise is to pick up any pirate that claims to have 80 games or less.

Some of the best carts I know are 190-in-1 and 260-in-1. The first has 99 different games, the second 106.

Here they seem to sell about $20 average. It depends, collectors may be less interested in them, but game players ecan really njoy them.

I've got one of said 190-in-1 carts for my NES. Yes, the first 99 are different, then the rest are hacked version allowing you to choose your number of lives or level you wish to begin on. Or versions (mine are listed as "crazy" or "super") that let you begin the game close to maxed out on extras and options.

That's right. The repeats on the 260-in-1 carts let's you choose the level and amount of lifes.

BTW, the 190-in-1 cart has a funny SMB hack, Super Flying Bros.

Mine's actually 191-in-1. The extra game is Excitebike.

What color is your 191 cart by chance?

I have some pirate games that have only a game, but I also have some great multicarts, like a 22 in 1 with all the first generation sports titles on the Nes (including Ice Hockey and ExciteBike) and a 168 in 1 that includes the first games (Donkey Kong, F1-Race, Arkanoid..) but also has CONTRA and TENGEN TETRIS!

My multicart has Tengen Tetris and BP Software's version of tetris as well.

if you could sell the multi's on ebay, you could get $150-200 a piece. I saw a guy actually complete an auction for one. It was bundled with the system and I forget how many games was on the cartridge but his auction actually looked like a big NES auction before you opened it. When you opened it, it showed the system with the multicart right in front of it. It was very clear as to what was actually being sold and i'm pretty sure it sold for $150-$200 and we all know that NES systems aren't worth anything so you can figure that some guy paid that much for the game. If you pay good money for an NES system, you're a fool. just an add on, IMO, comment. But I pay $2 for the systems I find at the goodwill's around here and buy new connectors for them and scrub up the controllers....trade them to my friends for very expensive college books :D

But, the 2 multi's I have are 110, and 250 or something, I paid $25 each and I really can't say that I like either of them. I took one apart and it is famicom with the convertor....and the other one doesn't have any screws... :hmm: (i'm surely not pealing the label to find the screws, no matter how much it's worth LOL )

I'm getting confused. It's actually the 255-in-1 cart that has 99 games on it (and Arnienext to the menu).

But I do own 191-in-1, it's a grey cart (but yours can be different, I've had some duplicates of other multi-carts and sometimes the cart is grey, and sometimes it's white or black).

It has 88 games on it:
Battle City, Arkanoid, Tetris (BPS), Tetris (Tengen), Star Soldier, Gradius, Gyruss, Adventures of Dino Riki, TwinBee, Exerion, Galaxian, Galaga, 1942, Tiger-Heli, etc.

Most unusual games on this cart would be Power Soccer and Lot Lot.
