Would anyone buy from this guy? Sounds like a real pain to deal with, his prices are low though...

Only problem I have is that price is not listed for shipping.
What if he said $25.00 shipping on that game after the auction ended?
Who knows?
I wouldn't bid unless I knew shipping price.

I can see where he is coming from though.
I'm convinced that 90% of all eBayers are too stupid to be allowed access to the site.
On all of my auctions, I stated in bold and red that I cannot accept credit cards, can only accept paypal, and I will only ship to a confirmed address.
75% of the auctions end with someone trying to pay by credit card
10% ask to pay with some other method
and the other 5% try to use an unconfirmed address.
What really sucks is when they do more than one of those things I should reserve the right to smack the stupid illiterate bidders.

I know, it's like there's one line of information about the NES and ten lines about warnings and how he'll screw you for life if you mess up. I'm sure he's been burned before, but sheesh. It's like the soup nazi.
Never trust someone who's signature is constantly bigger than their posts.

I wouldn't bid because he expects me to pay his seller fee for the auction. Why should I pay his listing fee? He can't even give an estimate as to how much shipping is.

I didn't see that. Aren't surcharges like that forbidden?

Below is the e-mail he sent to me when I inquired about shipping fees. $5 for one game is excessive.
S&H is $5.00 for the 1st game, $2.50 ea addit. Big or heavy items are extra.

Under fees he's charging, I noltice he also wants you to pay for his gasoline and his time...what's time worth these days? And with gas prices the way they are, I think I'd pass...the auctiions over now anyway... :P

1. I live in Canada, so anyone specifying "I only ship to US, and that's the end of it" pisses me off badly. I mean, come on! The differences between Canadian and American postal systems are not big enough to warrant such a strict policy, especially since Paypal solves a lot of the problems regarding overborder transactions (Paypal costs me next to nothing, compared to having to get to a Canada Post office, and pay for a money order). It's not as if I would refuse to pay a couple of bucks more in shipping!
*sigh*
A story like that happened to me last week but, fortunately, it ended well in my favour.
If you've read my posting in the "what are your other hobbies" thread, you know that I collect Montreal Expos and Andres Galarraga stuff. Last week, I stumbled upon a Galarraga Headliners bubblehead for sale, which I've never seen nor heard of before (I suppose the Headliners series were available in the US only). However, the seller specified in her auction, "Will ship to US only". I emailed her asking if she would ship to Canada nevertheless. She answered that, due to past problems with shipping to Canada, she will only ship to the US (sheesh, I'm not asking her to ship to Europe or Australia!)
Her auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2772731517&category=25128
A day later, I took a chance and searched again for "Galarraga Headliners". Another auction popped up from another seller, this time for a Hideo Nomo/Galarraga double set, in box, apparently from the same season as the other auction. The guy's starting price was $5.99 (just like the lady above), and he had a BIN of $7, which I used. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2774088295&category=204&rd=1
That goes to show that I did well in not insisting with that lady because I got a better deal elsewhere (2 Headliner figures instead of one, in a box that looks in much better shape and without discoloration), and that she's an idiot because I was willing to buy her doll and no one else was. On top of it all, the one I bought turned out to be rarer (smaller distribution and was an exclusive Sam's Club packaging).[/url]

Yeah, Paypal is great.....if you're the buyer.
Bend over if you're a seller though.

According to eBay's help topic:
Payment: Surcharges
Sellers may not charge eBay buyers an additional fee for their use of ordinary forms of payment, including acceptance of checks, money orders, electronic transfers or credit cards. Such costs should be built into the price of the item-this policy reduces the potential for confusion among bidders about the true cost of an item. Further, some forms of payment surcharges, such as credit card surcharges, are forbidden under the laws of many states, including California.
Can a seller add a surcharge to the final price of an eBay item? Yes, in three instances:
* Sellers may charge a reasonable shipping and handling fee to the final price of their item, providing that this fee is disclosed in the listing. A shipping and handling fee can cover the seller's reasonable costs for mailing, packaging and handling the item. Shipping and handling fees cannot be listed as a percentage of the final sale price.
* Sellers may pass along the costs associated with using a third party escrow service, if the buyer chooses to use an escrow service.
* Sellers may choose to accept payment in a different currency than the currency listed on eBay. If the buyer chooses to take advantage of this optional payment method, the seller may pass along to the buyer any costs associated with the currency exchange, provided that the costs are disclosed and agreed to in advance by the buyer.
Note: Some types of payment surcharges are permitted on some of eBay's international sites.
