and was wondering if anyone had links to someone who sells already made tabletop cabinets with cabinet graphics, two (2) sticks with about six (6) buttons total and possibly the monitor (but that I could do myself). I have lots of computer parts so I can put the actual PC together, I just need the cabinet and controllers. I would like it to be a tabletop unit (like a miniture arcade unit) and I don't mean a cocktail table. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

** Update **

Flack linked me to sorta what I am looking for and I have included pictures. I am looking for one a little bigger that would hold a 17" to 19" monitor and have enough space for two (2) sets of controls. Otherwise this is what I am wanting in a tabletop cabinet:

Every one I've ever seen like this has been custom made. I know you can buy upright cabs, cocktail cabs, and those arcade-like joysticks, but I've never seen a kit for just a tabletop unit.

It seems like there was one out there that was spamming the newsgroups for a while ... I'll have to check and see if it's still there. If I remember correctly it was $400-$500 with no monitor and no guts, just the box, joystick, and buttons. You could make one a lot cheaper ...

Ouch, that is expensive. And if you knew me you wouldn't say that, I am no carpenter ha ha. The electronics part I can do though that is why i was looking for a already built tabletop unit. I searched on google for hours last night but never found a site selling anything other than plans.

This is a pretty good one, the guy started out with one of those countertop poker machines.

It's expensive, but a lot cheaper than buying a room of arcade machines.

Actually I am thinking of going with this for controls. It looks quality (I haven't actually used one) but I supposed I could just have the cabinet fit it perfectly huh?

www.arcadecontrols.com is REALLY gonna be your best bet, either that or a LOT of google searches.

If you're considering building it from scratch, you should be able to draw up your own designs. If you want to buy the pre-built cabinet part, it's going to be WAY too hard for someone else to build it due to differences in what controls, monitor, and everything else that you're going to be using. Frankly, something that size is going to be IMPOSSIBLE unless you send the person your monitor, controls, and guts for measurement, and then they might as well just build the whole thing for you.

Guru, this sounds like an interesting project. I've built two upright cabs so far myself. I have considered building a tabletop machine but IMHO doing it with two full control sets and a 17 to 19 inch monitor seems like it would be a little bit unwieldy. The plans in the back of my head call for a 14" and a single control set. What I keep coming back to is the idea of something I can pick up easily and throw into my tiny car to take to friends houses or whatever. You probably have different considerations in mind, e.g. - living in a flat. But I think doing it as you've specified might make it a little trickier to move about.

However, if you've got the money, I suppose using a 17 to 19 inch LCD would solve the weight issues. That would be pretty slick.

Two cents worth of opinion here. Best of luck with your project in any case.

The Lunacade looks pretty cool but it expensive. Thanks for the responses all. I guess I might have to just make one if I can or spend a ton of money.
