im having trouble gettin my ps2 online,
it says ethernet cable not connected to a network
ok so do i connect it directly to the phone line or broadband?
im using sbc yahoo dsl now, what shoudl be my isp setting?

Man, it's been a while since I installed my network adapter. Maybe I can help though. When setting it up, did you use the auto-connect option? It pretty much sets everything up automatically so you don't have to worry about entering the right ISP information and whatnot. If that doesn't work, there may be instructions on the Yahoo DSL FAQ page for setting it up properly.
If you don't have a router, you can connect the cable from your modem directly into the network adapter. DO NOT connect it to the phone line input on the adapter. You can seriously fuck it up if you do.

If you don't have a hub, you should have the cable connection going to your DSL, and then the cable that normally goes from your DSL to the computer will now go from the DSL to your PS2.
If you do have a hub, you simply connect a network cable from your PS2 to your hub.
If Yahoo DSL has DHCP, you should be good to go, as they will assign your PS2 an IP address. If they do not, you will need to enter in the IP information.
Finally, if you have any sort of firewall between your PS2 and the outside world, you may need to configure it to allow it to talk.
I've got my PS2 getting a DHCP address from my own internal DHCP server running through a proxy and a firewall and it works great!

I have SBC Yahoo DSL also and mine uses DHCP.
What this means is there's very little you have to do to get online with the PS2. :D
All you have to do is unplug your network cable from the back of the computer. Take it and plug it into the PS2 network adaptor, and see if you're able to get online...

Probably. They aren't that expensive though. I got a 30 ft. cable for about $30. Had to drill a hole thru the floor too but it was allot cheaper than buying a wireless router and receiver.
