This may be old news, there's a SEGA series of cars out now in Hot Wheels...I was able to pick up the entire set in stores last week, 5 cars in all

Here's an ebay auction (not mine) that has them

Just a cool side-collectable, strangely, when you go to hotwheels.com there's no mention of them, maybe they are old? Anyone know?

There were late '03 releases that started shipping in the first waves of '04 cases in late August, early September. The HotD car was the first to ship followed by Shinobi. The last three (SC5, JSRF & SMB) came out at the same time. The SMB car has one of the nicest paint jobs I've seen on a HW car in some time.

The Sega series is actually the second series of video game cars that they've done. The first series was a 4 car set called Game Over. The featured games were Star Commander, Dino Hunt, Final Fight IV, & Raceway 2000. They were released in 1999. They did another 4 car set that same year called Classic Games which featured board games. The featured games were Uno, Skip-Bo, Kerplunk, & Toss Across. Good luck in your Hot Wheels searching!

I wasn't able to find #5, so that might be rarer, or shipping later than the others...

There were also the occasional non-Hot Wheels toy cars -- the Nintendo set(s) by Racing Champions, and the Interstate 77 cars (IIRC). I'm sure there are a couple others now that I just can't think of.
