Joe will get a kick out of this since he visited the Music Recyclery while at his stay for Sean's party. I went to the Music Recyclery (a local chain of used music and dvds and games (for ripoff prices) in the area.) to pick up some Snes controllers i ordered from them and saw Chrono Trigger, low and behold $143.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They were like it has become very sought after lately. Duh people get a clue!!!! This has to be the most overrated game pricewise ever. Some of the other highlights include Harvest moon for like 85 MMX3 of over a hundred bucks and much more. They say they price their stuff from Ebay Amazon.com and Gamestop (Yeah right). Anyway everyone, what are your thoughts on stores like this and what are some of your experiences in your searches or some insane stories?

At the flea market around where I live, there's this store selling Chrono Trigger for $120 (loose cart), and other SNES games ranging from $22 (Street Fighter 2) all the way to mid 100s. They also had C&C: Red Alert (PC) for $80!!! That thing goes for $10 max (new) these days!
Some other great deals LOL :
Symphony of the Night - $160
Mario Kart 64 - $75
Donkey Kong Country - $90

And so on...

Wow... I must say, CT is a GREAT game, but not $130 loose great... but it is "trade some guy 2 GCN games for" great. Really. The worst thing I've seen was a box of Atari commons-mostly Pac-man and Space Invaders-for $5 apiece. My flea markets are usually pretty full of commons and nothing hard to find.

The flea market by had a super famicom cart that was a wrestling game for $60 and they were selling sealed megadrive and super famicom games for that price.Cart only by their standards should be $40.

Music Recyclery is pretty rediculous at times. They were selling Valkerie Profile for well over $200.00 for awhile. I think it is down to an affordable $120.00 now. What a bargain! I have found some good stuff there in the past though. I got a complete copy of Guardian Heroes for the Saturn for $11.19. I think it sells there for well over $100.00 now. Anyway, whenever I need a laugh, I go into my local Music Recyclery and pull out the copy of Suikoden 2 they will be stuck with forever and laugh at the $130.00 price tag.

That is the most moronic move a business could EVER make, using prices directed off ebay..that's a disaster waiting to happen..they can't HONESTLY think someone will pay those amounts?? :o

There is a store here (Calgary) called Vdeogame Trader which takes the cake for ridiculous pricing. Some examples:

-Secret of Mana $199
-Chrono Trigger $199
-Final Fantasy - $99
-Klax (loose for nes) $45!!!!!!

That is just a small sample of their pricing. They've had the same nes and snes games displayed in exactly the same places for YEARS. I sometimes wonder why they would rather sit on the stuff forever than make some money off of it. They have like 500 loose nes carts in their store but they want ridiculous prices for them. If they sold them all for even $5 a piece, they would make a mint. I did get one good deal there once: SMS glasses for $19.99. Their game prices are entirely based on popularity, which does have one advantage: if a Stadium Events ever does show up there, it will have a price of like $10.

There is a used game store by me that has some pretty off the wall prices. (Video Game Exchange) They were charging either $15 or $20 for Atari 2600 Pac-Man a little while ago. They also charge around $50 to $75 for those Square SNES RPG's. I got a complete Final Fight Guy there for $9.99. I also sold them a complete Neo Geo CD system for $150. I also sold them a very nice condition VCS 4 Switch Woodgrain with about 10 complete but common games (also very nice) for over $100... I think it was closer to $150. But then I bring in a bunch of fully cleaned and nice condition complete Genesis titles, that they sell for about $10 a piece on average, and they'll only give me 50 cents per game (obviously turned that offer down). A decent store, but they're pretty wacky.

Considering the fact that CT and FF4 will soon be 20 bucks as FF: Chronicles becomes a Greatest Hits title, that's bloody ridiculous.
