well, I haven't officially decided to let this thing go yet. But, it seems to be for the best. I bought an iBook from a forum member a couple of months ago, fixed it's flaws and since haven't had much use for it. It's the White G3 500 Dual USB model, with a 12" screen. it's similar to this one:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2774272284&category=4602

and i'll try to remember all the details I can:

500 mhz, 384 mb ram, 10gb hd, dvd drive, airport(802.11b) and well.....I think it's OS X(v10.2).....I know it's OSX but i'm not totally sure which version. I have the boxes for:
iBook
Airport
New AC adapter(the real deal, not 3rd party LOL )

and that should be about it. All I have really used it for is a little web surfing and I've watched Finding Nemo on it more times than I can count because it fits just about anywhere....especially right next to the monitor for my desktop. Again, this is the 12" model which is quite smaller than some people think....smallest laptop in recent years I would say. But it seems very handy and very versatile. The only reason I am even thinking of parting with it is because I'm not a big Mac person....It all runs smooth and it's a really solid OS.....I just can't break myself in. I'll probably be sad to see it go, if only I could get an IBM based laptop built that well and that sleek....... :(

One final note, I bought this from a board member and I did fix it. I HAVE OPENED THE CASE ON THIS, so it shows a couple scuffs near the edges where the layers of the case meet. But I haven't had a lick of trouble with it since then, so no worries. But just incase somebody needs to know everything, now they do. And another little bit of info, the part I replaced was the power in board as it had connection problems. I hope things are staked out clear enough here. If somebody is interested please holler, I'm not pushing to get rid of it but it's about the only good answer I can come up with. If I get ancy soon, I will throw it on ebay and provide a link. Thanks for looking!!

anybody......anybody at all? If nobody takes it, I will probably toss it on Ebay around the 10th of January or thereof...

Just to vouch for the usability of a 500Mhz iBook - very good. I have a 300Mhz iBook w/288M and 20G HD with an Airport card, and it runs extremely well under Panther. I'd kill for one of these (I love the white ones) but I have.. well, no cash.

well, ebay is all i have to go by. So, just to let you know that....I see them sell for $500-700.......and the ones that sell for 500 are all BIN and sell almost instantly. So I think it's fair that I ask a bare minimum of that. And this particular one sold for $660 or something like that...and I do believe mine is a bit nicer, as in....ram...and I have all the boxes for everything. So, we'll start off by saying no less than $500 since I can easily get $500 at any given moment(says the ebay market) And I realize I would be paying fees but......anyways. We'll use that as a starting block. and the package is quite large. this ibook is small and so are all the accessories. but the box is like a small home and there are a few....so keep that in mind. Does that clear up the question of price to a roundabout? Mr. Jandran :P if there are any other questions or anything of the like......just post away right here so we can answer it for everybody.

Damn damn damn. If I had $500 or 600 right now, I'd offer.

For what it's worth, I just bought an Ibook on ebay with the same specs, but without the airport for $650 BIN with free shipping. However, the iBook I bought came with MS Office, Photoshop, and a ton of other high end software complete with discs. This was before (exactly a day before) the new G4 iBooks came out though, and now I wouldn't pay more than $600 for the deal. The iBook is hands down the best laptop I've ever used though, and OS X has never crashed on me, ever.
