Anyone understand the controls for this game, as well as the switching which turns your plane from white to that dark redish?

Fairly simple.

Directional pad is up, down left and right of course.

One button is fire, one is switch colors. When you switch colors you can absorb bullets that are the same color as you. You also do double damage to ships that are the opposite color of you. By absorbing bullets the same color as you, it charges your power bar, which shoots a powerful laser blast with you hit the L or R (I forget which) trigger. That's about it ! :)

you can set the back triggers up to switch between White and Black.
if your black, it does more damage to a white enemy,, and vise versa.
also, if your white and get hit by white enemy fire, you absorb it
instead of taking damage.
the stored energy can then be used against the enemy as a super attack.
if you beat the game, you unlock options..also the longer you play
the game,, you unlock more options.

one final note..

the dude walking around while you are selecting your modes
before you start is actually maxlords when he gets up in the morning.
