I went back to that kick-ass market with the arcade containing Samurai Shodown V today... but I had my eye on the sit-down Outrun cabinet just next to the Neo Geo. In my entire life, I have never, ever played Outrun in a live arcade... so you could imagine at how blown away I was when the SEAT MOVED AS I SWERVED!!! I nearly yelled out "Holy Shit!" in a public place. Thank you, Yu Suzuki, for creating such a unique and exciting machine! I never experienced anything like it... after play number one was over, I had to play it again. The first time, I took the right fork, and the left path for the second time. Unfortunately, I suck at driving games, and on both tries, I couldn't get farther than the second stage. x_x
But you think I care about that? HELL NO! I don't have to hate a game if I suck at it. That's not the gamer spirit. Games that we can't beat are probably more acclaimed than the ones we have beaten. It was just the feeling of playing Outrun, the way it should be played, that made my day. :D
Outrun aside, I then went to play good ol' SSV, and I went with Yoshitora "Los Katanas de Siete" Tokugawa, who is SERIOUSLY overpowered! I killed most of my opponents with ease, and on this play, I OWNED Sankuro! By owned, I mean that I beat him in the first round... then he kicked my ass in the second, but that's not the point. In the final duel, I managed to hit him with Yoshi's very powerful disarming move, which took off about half of the hammer-wielder's life. He was disarmed, and it didn't take me much afterwards to finish his life before he took any of mine. Yep, I killed him after knocking away his weapon, earning a sweet, satisfying "Perfect" while listening to his loud death cry. W00t. At that point, I had to leave, so I quit while fighting Shizumaru. I shall return there someday and actually attempt to beat Gaoh. With whom, I know not, but I can certainly say that Yoshitora kicks ASS.
A great day overall, even if I had a bit of a cold. :D :D :D
