Just finished Resident Evil Dead Aim for the PS2. I was expecting to hate this game, but picked it up for $19 at Kay-Bee.
Opened it, popped it into the PS2 and played for a few minutes. This is a Guncon compatible game but I am using the Dual Shock to play. First off, the exploration part of the game is classic Resident Evil with one main difference. You no longer control like a tank(stop turn left/right push forward) With the new control you can move forward or back, when you turn, the camera rotates and you immediately face that direction. Does'nt sound like much, but it makes a huge difference.

Now, on to what I think is a BIG improvement, Combat!! At any time in the exploration mode you can switch to combat mode by pushing the top-right shoulder button. This brings up a first-person view with a status bar on the bottom showing the weapon equipped, bullets remaining and current health. To fire your weapon you just push the top-right shoulder button. To fine tune your aim you use the right stick and to exit combat mode you just move forward.

All the enemies are highly detailed and have location specific death animations (Shoot a zombie next to a wall and he will slide down the wall and slump at the base). If you get a head shot it sends the enemy cartwheeling across the room. It's the best looking Resident Evil on Playstation.

To me this is Resident Evil with all the control problems fixed. The only problem I have is the length of the game. I beat it in a little over 2 hours total game time. In those 2 hours the game takes you from a Zombie infested Cruise Ship to a Hidden Umbrella Base filled with tons of NEW Resident Evil monsters. There are also multiple characters to control.
I almost passed this by because I thought it was just another light-gun game. The light-gun is not neccesary and I think it was added to get around the Gamecube exclusive on Resident Evil. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.
The most fun I have ever had with RESIDENT EVIL.
