View Full Version : Did Best Buy yank Manhunt off the shelf?

I went into my local Best Buy today to redeem my McDonald's Best Buy Bucks and noticed that Manhunt was nowhere to be found. I thought they probably had just sold out being Christmas and all, but then I saw that there wasn't even a placard for it on the shelves anywhere. Strangely enough, the strategy guides were all over the place instead.

So does Best Buy not carry Manhunt or did mine just misplace it/was sold out/etc.?

I had heard some stores were pulling it from the shelves, but I think it's on a store-by-store basis -- my guess is that if too many customers complained, then your particular Best Buy may have decided to hide it away.

You might ask an "associate" (or whatever they're calling them these days) and see if they even carry the game or have a listing for it in the system at all. That would speak volumes.

I remember seeing it when I went to buy a PS2 yesterday.

A lot of times some customer will take the placard somewhere and ask someone if they have the game instock, then it just never gets returned. If they've still got guides for it I'd assume they still carry the title.

I'd guess that it was Best Buy that was pulling them off the shelves....'cause lord knows consumers aren't! *bada-bum*....(wait for it)....*tish!*

Thanks folks, I'll be here all week, don't forget to tip ya waitress!

I'd wager that certain department stores may have struck Manhunt from their stocks... it all depends on who's working there. If its manager is a Catholic Priest in his spare time, then you're not likely to see it. I hope my local Best Buy and/or Hollywood Video hasn't removed Manhunt, as I'd like to try it. You apparently get to use a severed head as an item at some point. :hmm:

Wait, a severerd head as a item? You do that in System Shock as well. LOL

And in State of Emergency as well, another Rockstar game.

Ok, you guys know too much about the history of severed heads in video games :D

You really should write an article for DP or something. And don't forget the bouncing skulls in Montezuma's Revenge (lots of 8bit ports).

Well, I just played it for an hour and don't see the big deal. It's neither disturbing or fun :\

The ironic thing about all this is that someone will now go out and kill someone and get away with it by blaming Manhunt... And the people who are outraged will be the ones to blame for giving them the alibi!

I think it is funny that Wal- Mart carries it, yet they refuse to carry GTA Vice City (they do carry GTA3 though, they have no idea what they are doing over there x_x )

Really? Neither of the ones around me carry it. I asked why at both stores, and they both said because it was too violent. At the second one that I asked, I mentioned the other games that they carried and they said that it was just what the company had decided on.
