Hi Folks,

Just wondering: Who owns these? Gold and not gold.

Sidestory: I was at the NWC 1990 competition. I ran into Ben Smith, the head of the Nintendo Game Play Counselors at the time...I think he moved into product development from what I heard. I actually got his autograph on 6 of the NWC show guide pamphlet thingies. My friend (Kevin Murphy who used to run themushroom.com) actually beat him in GB Tetris...very close match...yeah we felt like kings for a day, heh heh.

Anyway, Ben was carrying one of these carts by chance around the show. It was a grey one with a cut out in the board with chips sticking out (Not switches, as far as I remember). I said, "any chance of snagging thatfrom you?" Ben replied "Sure, if ya got $3000 bucks." Very interesting story I thought you'd all like to hear.

So, let's compile a list: who owns these now? What ever happenned to those that the winners of the contest had (Thor Auckerland, etc)? Aslo, What about the NWC 199? cart with Dr Mario and two others (can't remember the year or the other two games)?

Thanks everyone!

I really don't feel like going through my mental list of "who owns what," as far as NWC goes, but I can tell you that nobody has that college challenge cart with Dr. Mario. I think NoA confiscated them all.

other cart you are talking about is the Campus Challenge cart, with the Dr. Mario, Pinbot, and Super Mario Bros. 3 games. I think the collectors had asked the contest winners if they had a copy of the carts or not. I was actually contacted by Thor a while back, though I never had the chance to ask him whether he still had his cart or not.

Interesting note on the College cart. I heard that it actually was called the Nintendo World Championships 199(3? 2?).

I have a Gold NWC, I believe if I'm not mistaken, Buyatari has a Gold,...Nesguy123 or Twoofakind, what ever his name is has a grey, nespit, i believe also has one though I'm not sure what color....I think it would be interesting to find everyone who has one of these, then maybe we could finally figure out exactly how many grey's there were...

Sorry about the double post there, guys,

Yeah! My point exactly :-) There may even be more than we think, since Nintendo likely held some.

i am talking to nesguy right now and he has sold his nwc cart to pay some bills. he got about 1500 for it and he traded a copy of ninja taro for it. Ninja taro was a prototype he got for $30 :shocked!: and he traded it for a grey nmc form jason wilson

Ah, glad to see Mr. Bloom finally sold that.

Yes, there seems to be more than the 90, judging by production numbers. How many more is a voodoo mystery.
