Yes, the ballot is finished. Make a list of the 100 greatest games of all time, using ONLY GAMES FROM THE LIST of 500 below. Be sure to RANK THE GAMES from 100 to 1, simple lists won't cut it! When you're finished with your list, EMAIL IT TO ME at bossgalaga@angelfire.com

Let's decide what the greatest games EVER are! Although it's 99% likely your favorite is in this list, it'd be impossible to include everyone's favorites. If your favorite wasn't included, tack it on the end of your list as an "Honorable Mention". When I finish calculating the Top 100 and post it, I'll also list everyone's Honorable Mentions.

Well, I just made my top 100 list (by the rules!) It was a lot easier to do than I thought. I won't be emailing it for a few days, though. I'll look it over a few times to make sure I think it's a good list.

I refuse to vote from a list without Cloak & Dagger. :(

Will everyone's top 100s be posted? I liked to see the board dignitaries' lists (and argue with them..."whaddaya mean Ace Combat 2 is FIFTY! Jerkweed!")

@Tempest: You can always designate Claok & Dagger as your Honorable Mention...

Yeah, I'm toying with the idea of sticking everyone's lists on a website. It would be fun, wouldn't it? ^_^

Toying with things is always a lot of fun, but that doesn't mean you should do it in view of the public *lol* ;)

I'm in the same boat. I have only 25 from the list and the other 3/4 are just filler :?

I dont know how Ys Books I + II, Gates of Thunder, and Lords of Thunder (all for the Turbo CD) missed the cut...Turtles in Time, too.

Yashiro decided not to include computer games.

(original thread: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2612)

My top 500 list would be completely different too, but this is what he decided. No one said you had to agree with it.

The people on this board are so hyper-crticial. Take a chill pill.

Or else, shut up and *do the list yourself* if you think you can do it better.

I'm so sick of people who complain, complain, complain, and don't volunteer to do anything. If you're not willing to get off your ass and organize a Top 500 list yourself, then you have no right to criticize.

Captain Yashiro is doing the best job he can, so back off. Leave the childish criticism in the playground.

Wow, someone complaining about childish criticism yet telling ppl to "shut up". Interesting.

hyper-crticial..

I'm not sure here whether you mean people are critical of everything all the time, or say one thing and do another.

Thank you, theaveng, I was going to post something like that but you beat me to it. ^_^

@jaydubnb: I don't think he was referring to your post as much as he was referring to the more *outspoken* posts of Raedon, and the rather silly post of nesman85. (I think he's still angry that I left Donkey Kong Country 3 out of the list...^_^)

Well now, I have gotten a total of 3 Top 100s so far.....still waiting for some of the DP staff to send me theirs! :?

I'm still workin' on it, Cap!

And pay no mind to the neigh-sayers. I'm really glad you're doing this. No one EVER agrees on EVERYTHING, especially around here, that's part of the fun. It's when people get nasty with one another that it stops being fun.

This list will take a LONG time to compile though, don't expect to get them all quickly. And I wouldn't post any "results" until you get at LEAST a dozen entries. Also it should change as new people come along and participate, IMO.

Anyway, I'm down to about 200... this is TOUGH!

Raedon
10-13-2002, 10:13 AM
true.. I'll get you my list today also.. It's harder then i thought..

You should have included:
SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium (NGPC)
King of Fighters ‘95 (Neo Geo)
King of Fighters ‘96 (Neo Geo/Saturn)
King of Fighters ‘99 (Neo Geo) (I thought all of these KoF games were better than the ones you chose)
Castlevania: Bloodlines (Genesis)
Crash ‘N’ the Boys: Street Challenge (NES)
Haunting: Starring Paulterguy (Genesis)
Real Bout Fatal Fury (Neo Geo)
Shinobi 3 (Genesis)
Samurai Shodown 3 (Neo Geo)
Virtua Cop (Saturn/Arcade)
Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram (Arcade/Dreamcast)
Virtical Force (Virtual Boy)
Wario Land (Virtual Boy)
Mario Tennis (Virtual Boy)

Yikes, that is a big list and the scary thing is that its not even a complete one, I don't think I could ever make a decision, there have just been to many video games released, So I will just take the cop out way and say those are all excellent titles

Kroogah
10-17-2002, 01:57 PM
You should have included:
Actually, I thought about including most of these titles, so I'll tell you why I passed on each one.

SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium (NGPC)
King of Fighters ‘95 (Neo Geo)
King of Fighters ‘96 (Neo Geo/Saturn)
King of Fighters ‘99 (Neo Geo)
Samurai Shodown 3 (Neo Geo)
Real Bout Fatal Fury (Neo Geo)
-It's good to see yet another Neo Geo freak on the board, but I don't think there are THAT many, so I tried to go for a general selection of Neo Geo fighters. I like '96 more than '97 and '98, but I didn't think anyone else did! I also think SamSho 1 and 2 and RB Special would get more votes. I suppose I did make a mistake leaving out SNK Vs. Capcom though. I put in Cardfighters Clash, at least!

Castlevania: Bloodlines (Genesis)
-Hmm.....I don't think it's quite up to par with the NES Castlevanias, GBA Castlevania, Symphony of the Night, or the 2 SNES Castlevanias. It's for CV diehards only.

Haunting: Starring Paulterguy (Genesis)
-Someone else actually likes this? Whoa!

Shinobi 3 (Genesis)
-Heh, there are more Sega fans on this board than I thought...

Virtua Cop (Saturn/Arcade)
-VC2 was a marked improvement, and the original wasn't particulary groundbreaking...

Wario Land (Virtual Boy)
-This one IS on there, under the full name: "Virtual Boy Wario Land"

Mario Tennis (Virtual Boy)
-Hmm...N64 Mario Tennis would get more votes.

No, I'm not going to do this for everyone's honorable mentions. Atariguy's list just included a lot of games that "almost" made it.

Sylentwulf

I think my problem is goin got be that I've probly only PLAYED 100 of those games, so they're the only ones that will make my list. I can't say Twisted Metal 2, or UN Squadron, becuase I've simply never played them. I would change it so that you don't HAVE to list 100. If you only like 25 of the games listed, then rank those and send them in, otherwise, some games people have never played are going to get points they don't deserve :(

OK, I'm going through the list now, I'll probly have just around a hundred. not too many surprises, but Dragon Warrior 2, 3, and 7 DEFINITELY should be on that list. I've also seen a few games that SHOCKED me that they made it on the list because I thought they were AWFUL. :) but to each their own! list will be coming soon!

Pong. If you're old enough, do YOU remember first trying it? It was sort of like seeing Star Wars when it first came out in 1977.

Space Invaders. Remember it as the first mega-hit? And, as Flux magazine put it, it was the first game in which you faced a situation that could only exist in what would become known as "cyberspace."

Space Fury. "So, a creature for my amusement..."

Tempest. Need I say more?

Galaxian. Whoa- full color!

Adventure (2600). The first home console RPG, and the first easter egg to boot!

Lord of the Dungeon (CV). The world's first battery-backed cartridge game. Had it been released, it would literally have changed American videogaming.

Utopia (Intellivision). So- you think video games are just mindless shoot `em ups?

Star Fire. Being in that booth, holding that controller, battling those "Tie Fighters..."

Joust. Beautiful, and cooperative 2-player action.

Q*Bert. Cursing no parent could object to. Funny, too.

Finally finished my list! It's on its way to you now.

What made it especially hard for me was comparing games in totally different genres: How do I take my favorite RPG of all time and compare that to my favorite fighting game of all time? They're both great but in such very different ways.

Anyway, I did it! Looking forward to seeing some prelim results of your combined list.
