This news is hitting all across the web so I'll just gank the blurb from VE.

During the month of January, anyone who purchases Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for the PlayStation2, Nintendo GameCube, the Xbox video, or the PC, will receive a copy of Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell on the same platform - PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, Xbox (platinum edition), or PC - for FREE! This special offer will be available at all major retailers.

"This is huge. As a post-holiday thank-you to gamers for their continued support, we are giving away Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell, last year's Game of the Year, with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, which could very well be this year's Game of the Year," said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing for Ubisoft. "Millions of gamers can't be wrong, so for those who still don't own these award-winning titles, this is a can't miss offer. Ubisoft is committed to building our brands for the future, and we want both of these award-winning games in as many gamers' hands as possible."

Encourage Ubisoft's Montreal studios... go ahead with this promo! (Prince of Persia was developed in Montreal, and so was the Xbox version of Splinter Cell)

Seriously, though, since I have neither game, I'm tempted to go ahead with the offer... or wait a few months for PoP to lower in price and get Splinter Cell now.

My only problem is... are they packaged together or do you have to send for it. I'm not cutting out any UPC label for a free game. Call me stupid if you will, but I like em' complete. That, and if it wasn't the Platinum edition I'd go for the XBox version.

Actually, you receive separate copies of each, in-store. That's the information I have, and since it's Ubisoft's promo, it'll be the same everywhere else.

It's really too bad you can't mix the platforms.
ie. PoP for PS2 and SC for Gamecube.

If I can get PoP for 39.99 then I might go ahead and get the GC versions.

(on a side note... KBToys has Beyond Good & Evil (http://www.kbtoys.com/Results.html?_e=3ff31&_v=3FF31913wd4daCC081625218&textSearch=1&previous_keywords=&D=Beyond+Good+%26+Evil&place=ajnv&formInfo=T%7CD%7C0%7C255&formMap=) for $19.99, supposedly for all platforms but I could only find the PS2 version listed) :D

I saw this posted on another board, this is definitely a sweet deal. I'll for sure be picking up the Cube versions when the new year rolls in... or maybe the PS2. Not quite sure yet.

Anyone have any cases to make for or against either version of either game? Aside from the Cubes graphics being better.

Well I've wrote the most comprehensive walkthrough for Splinter Cell and I'm finishing up a video WT too. So I know pretty much everything SC :).

The Xbox version is the original, developed by UbiSoft Montreal, this is the way the game was meant to be played. Has the best gameplay and graphics out of all versions. 3 new downloadable levels via Xbox live.

SC is my favorite game, but I can't stand to play the ports because of the easier/linear game play. The ports to PS2/GC were developed by a division in UbiSoft China, Shanghai, who are right now developing the single player for all versions of Pandora Tomorrow. Yeah, I know I'm thrilled about that...

PS2 it's a completely different game, much easier(less guards etc..), different level layout, much more linear, but a better story line and one new level called Power Plant. The shadows/graphics are basically hacked and rewritten to look similar to the original. Don't get discouraged with the PS2 demo, the fps isn't that bad in the finished game. They took out the reflections off the floors to help.

GC is exactly the same as PS2 except the one new level, has a tiny bit better graphics, GBA linkability, if you finish the game, you get 5 new levels for GBA Splinter Cell.

Xbox and PC version pretty much exactly the same besides the fact you have to buy a PC collection edition of SC from the UK to play the 3 new levels. The game plays bad without the joystick sensitivity moving you around, you have to use your mouse wheel.

Xbox Platinum Hits version includes all 3 downloadable levels if you don't have Xbox live, which are also available from OXM and the Rainbow Six companion disk.

Bleh, kinda wish I had an Xbox. So, the GC version doesn't have the extra level the PS2 version has?

BG&E for $10?! Duly noted...trip to Circuit City scheduled for Sunday. :) Is that offer good in every Circuit City? And will they have any other games for $10 also?

Hmm...
Y'know, if you wait until both games become PS2 Greatest Hits titles, you'll be able to get them both for the current price of PoP.

Therefore, the deal doesn't end in February....

Two questions?

One: Where did this info come from?
Two: What the FUCK happened to the board formatting in this thread! I haven't had anything to drink in at LEAST an hour.

I was upset when I read this news, then proceeded to ask 5 retai shops and no one had heard about it! Today I was saved when I went to a different GS and they said yes! Too bad I just bought the Xbox version down the street at CC with their $20 off 3 game sale. I went a head and bought the GC version so when I get a Cube again I'll have two games to play. Yeah for me.
