Yes it is just like Baldour's Gate: Dark Alliance. Yes it is totally linear. Yes it is strict hack and slash. Yes I do love it.

Should have some kind of Xbox live to it. Would be fun to fight together online or to have some kind of arena (no potions allowed.)

Actually, Everquest Heroes of Norwall (whatever) looks to have that component in place, without being a MMORPG. I look forward to that- it is being done by the same people who did BG: DA.

Also BG 2 will be nice.

heroes is a great "guilty pleasure", isn't it? it's funny- the dungeon hack is probably the most FUN type of rpg, yet it gets trashed by reviewers every now and then. i love this type of game, and will paly anything i get my hands on. i'm probably the only one i know that liked metro 3D's dark angel: vampire apocalypse (PS2)- it's nothing but WEEKS of killing monsters and collecting treasure and weapons, and that's what made it so much fun for crazy ol' me, lol...

I am beta testing Champions of Norrath right now! Because of the NDA I can't say much but I can tell you that you will like it. The four player online is alot of fun!

Man, I would love to Beta stuff, but I barely have time to play the games that I buy for $50. Which is about 3 games a year.

Anyway, do they make you return the disks? Do they keep track of how many hours you play or the feedback you send them?

Can you keep beta testing if you don't send feedback or log alot of hours?

Can you see how these would apply to the overly busy gamer- me?

Dark Alliance 2 might have fallen on hard times, now that Black Isle has been shut down. We'll see if it actually comes out or not.

The wife got this on Tuesday using our Best Buy bucks (18.99 after coupon from gift card and best buy bucks) . Anyways I love it, and most of these type, because me and the wife can both play. I just wish they had a split screen option you could turn on. Other than that its a blast, and BG:DA2 is coming out in Jan, they have a publisher, there was just some big time ill will going on.

I've been playing this one a bit too (about 10 hours in), great fun. As a buddy of mine described it "Gauntlet Legends meets Baldur's Gate". He didn't mention either of them actually meeting Dungeons and Dragons but that's probably because the game is VERY loosely tied in to the D&D.

The multi-player MAKES the game, and I think it really should have been online compatible. That's an element that's clearly missing here. Otherwise, a great hack 'n slasher, one of my favorite kinds of games.
