Wow, that is pretty cheap. I wonder about the quality of the screen though at that price.

The one you show is the 5" , the 4" is on sale for $29.99

*edit* ok now I'm confused, they say it's a 4" screen but then they say 5" diagonally.
I thought all screens were measured diagonally , so is it a 4" or a 5" @_@

He is saying buy the $29 monitor because the 5" is basically the same but is $70 more. He is just showing how good of a deal the $29 4" monitor is.

Oh man, the Amazon quotes are hilarious:

"don't get me wrong it's just AWESOME but I don't know how to play dvds on it"

LOL

"That was just as bad as the LSD screen was"

LOL

"Does this monitor work on a normal playstation?"

LOL

Yes but on the page for the 4" monitor it says that it is 5" diagonally.
That would make it a 5" monitor because that is how ALL monitors are measured , diagonally.
So I'm asking , is it really the 5" monitor or is it a 4" monitor ?

*edit* As you can see from these 2 auctions, they both say 5" diagonally, but one is listed as a 4" and one as a 5" ???????

Just a WAG, but maybe they mean the entire UNIT is 5" diagonally, the screen is still 4"?

I got one comming to me, it shipped out yesterday. I heard about this a lot earlier on another forum.

My guess is that the LCD is 4" and the plastic surround is 5".

These monitors have been $29.99 for the better part of the last 2 weeks, so who knows how many they have. I've had 2 sitting in my shopping cart since last week, as I try to decide if I really need more of these monitors for parts. I'm thinking that this monitor must run on 7.2 to 7.5 volts, which would make it easier to use in my 2600 handheld than the portable GC monitor I got from KB a few months ago (which is 12V). Not sure if I want to go through the trouble of swapping the screens though.

Though they aren't clear about the size, I think it is safe to say it is 5" diagonally, which means 4" horizontally and 3" vertically - remember that Pythagoras guy?

Well now that I found the packing slip from my GC monitor and see that I paid $59.99 for that and thought I was getting a good deal, I think I can spring for a few of these monitors. I just bought 2 from EToys (EToys = KB, with different coupons) using the "etinsert" 10% off coupon. Shipping sucks, as is typical for KB, but $61.80 for 2 monitors isn't bad.

Yeah, plus most moniters are a 3:4 ratio, which would make that correct.

OK yes we all know this.
But why would the maker of the screen list it as a 4" screen when it is 5" diagonally.
ALL SCREEN MANUFACTURERS LIST THE SCREEN SIZE ACCORDING TO WHAT IT IS DIAGONALLY NOT LENGTH OR WIDTH.

That is the question , what is the screens TRUE diagonal measurement. That would be the true screen size.

Thats all I want to know !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

So I fired off a question to KB through their web site. And here's what the customer service representative wrote back:

Hello,

Thanks for writing to KBtoys.com.

The item is a 4-inch LCD screen and measures 5 inches diagonally.

Thank you for visiting KBtoys.com. Should you have further questions, please visit our help section at http://www.kbtoys.com/help/service.html.
So that answers the question...I think. Now it is time for me to enjoy a 14-oz. pint of beer.

Got mine today! This thing is just full of surprises! First, before I even open the container, I find out that it has A/V inputs on the back! So you can hook it to any console you want.

I finally cut open the plastic contianer of death that has a full box inside it (gah, I hate these things!). The screen isn't a standard size, the LCD itself is 4-1/4 inches diagonally, the gray part (to make the screen look bigger) measures 5-1/4 inches @_@

Seems to work OK for a $30 LCD... more later.

EXCELLENT screen....for the price. The colors are nice and bright, but it has issues (major issues) with bright characters on dark backgrounds (or vice versa). Still, if I can play Puzzle Fighter for the PS One on the road, I don't care. If you need a nice compact screen, this isn't a bad choice. Note that mine is filled with scratches on the INSIDE of the screen but they are not noticeable when playing unless there's a completely black screen.

I ordered 2, and I'm damn glad I did, the first one I opened was defective (You have to squeeze the sides of the unit to get the screen to work)

The second one works pretty good, dark at the bottom, but for $30, I consider it a damn good deal.

Wow..

for that kind of money, instead of have 1.5 screens, you could have purchased an original Sony PS1 screen!

Its the brightest and sharpest, and it's an inch bigger! :D

Well, obviously I don't plan on KEEPING the defective one, I'm returning it and then selling the sealed replacement :)
Hence, I get 1 screen for about $20. which is still $100 cheaper than the sony one, heh.
