...and you see a seller that has a system with games, for example a NES with 15 games and you start looking through the games and notice one that you've been hunting for a long time that you must have!

Then you question the price on the game, and the seller responds with "oh, im selling it all together with all the games for 50.00"...which wouldnt be so bad if you didn't have any of the other games, but say you either have them all or dont want the others. So you try and coax them out of that one game, but they won't do it! And you even offer a decent amount for it (5+) and explain to them how they will make MORE MONEY by selling you that one game...yet they still say "Id rather just sell it all togther"

Im pretty sure everyone had encountered this before, and it pisses me off beyond reason!

Yeah I can't stand that. All I want is one game. They act like it will devalue the lot. I did once talk a lady out of a SNES system box for $5 bucks. She thought I was crazy for just buying the box.

You are crazy X_x tynstar , usually I offer $40 and buy the whole box if the price is good. and if there are decent enough games to go with it.....guess thats why I had about 600 NES dupes when I was nearing the end of my collection.

Uh, why not buy the system + 15 games, keep the one and resell the rest here or on eBay and recoup most if not all or more of your money? Is it that bad?

That's what I'd do, but maybe that's just silly lil' me.

This happened to me with a Sega Saturn... 6 games and the system, $60. I only wanted Sonic Jam, but they wouldn't sell it alone :(

We all don't have unlimited cash flows to spend on games. It was just an example anyways.

I usually buy everything, even if I only want one game out of the lot. :D ... I bought 9 NESes with games this summer at garage sales. :D

I wish they had these flea markets in Minnesota. We have yard and garage sales but that is just junk. Oh, is a flea market the same as a yard or garage sale and just called by a different name depending on where you are at or is it some kind of organized business?

Here in AZ we call a swap meet a flea market--there several here every weekend. They are like garage sales, but some vendors have new stuff and others have used. They are like a HUGE garage sale, I mean acres and acres and tons of stuff to check out.

I hate when I go to swap meet and it seems like everyone is trying to run into you with their bags or strollers! OMG :o

I get that a lot....if I don't know the seller/vendor..then sometimes it's the vendors who I know that'll pull that crap..
I'm a great haggler though and I usually get what I want..

If worst comes to worst I'll buy the whole box, keep what I wanted and sell the rest to make my money back...or even maybe make profit...

If I think or know I can resell what's in the say $50.00 box, then I'll buy the box for sure and basically get what I wanted to keep for free...
I do that a lot...
Though I have ran into that one vendor who has the most ridiculously high prices for stuff that I want but could get cheaper elsewhere..
Or the vendor with the old line.."But I could get this much for it on Ebay"

People still have no idea of the value of classic games here, I bought a boxed Mint Amstrad CPC464 w/ Monitor, DD, etc for A$15 a few weeks back. Swapmeet = Flea Market here, I buy mostly to resell of course, it's my main source of income. But I have ran into this when wanting a certain SMS Game, I just give up and buy the other games & system if I have that Money. At a loca Pawn Shop here, Christmas Nights is in a Boxed Saturn Package with 9 other games, but for A$105, a figure which I can't afford all in one go.

More flea market things I hate...since I was there this morning its all fresh in my memory.

First of all the people who still feel that 10.00 is an acceptable price for a used DVD. Cmon people...there 10 pawn shops around this market selling them at 4.00-6.00 each. :o

And the ones I really hate...the one that you ask a price, then they give you a high price and the price they "sell for" in stores.....10 years ago. I seen an oddly interesting VHS box set of "Ghost Stories". 6 VHS, some oddball company that has no business making movies, and it was in a box that was tore up. But me, a sucker for a good ghost story, had to ask the price. Here it was...

Me - *picking up the box with 2 hands so that the VHS tapes dont fall all over the floor cause like I said...box was beat to hell* "How much is this"

Dumbass woman - "Oh, thats brand new (had to hold back a laugh here), it's 20.00....they sell for 100.00 in the stores"

Me - *walk away fast*

Yep, some oddball company makes Ghost stories on VHS and sells them in stores for 100.00...and puts it in a beat up box with no wrapping, hence the words "Brand New".

Sometimes I hate Flea Market Vendors

its annoying, i'm not the type of guy to buy a whole box to just get one game, if i dont need it or cant trade it i wont take it. i've got plenty of extra NES and gen consoles already. my approach is two pronged, first pick up everyhting you want from the box and ask them how much they want for it. this lets them feel like they're getting the better of you, an important element to flea markey bartering. if that fails, and you can hang around or return later, go up to them at the last minute on sunday, and then go for the buy. if the guys had a crappy weekend and you flash a $10 or higher he'll usually take it, at that point he knows your his last sale of the day and he may need gas/mcdonalds money.
