Not knowing any Japanese, I've got no idea what these games are. It's been so long since I've tried them out that I don't think/remember that actually playing the game or the title screen helped much.

and another 4 here:

thanks!

Hey Achika, Those won't happen to be for sale will they?

I know the one with the Ninja is on just about every NES Pirate Cart I own.

No, sorry. I'm trying to get them ID'd so I can put the names on my orphans list so I can get the instructions & boxes for them.

That gold one in pic 2 is "Marusa no Onna".

Yay, I can read katakana!

In the one with 4 carts pictured, the one on the top right is "Family Jockey", or something like that.

I can't quite figure out the one on the bottom right, "Doa Doa"(Door Door?). I can tell you it's made by Enix, though.

The ninja one on the top-left ends in "-kun", so it must be a boy's name. Might be "Ninja Boy", or something.

EDIT: Just looked up the kanji. Yep, it's Ninja-kun! Oh yeah. I'm good.

And the first one, with the detective guy on it, is made by Namco! This is fun. :)

I'm curious about the Capcom game. Where's GaijinPunch when we need him?

edit: I had the answer right under my nose. I knew this article would come in handy! http://www.geocities.com/opcfg2/cfl.html

The Capcom game is titled Marusa no Onna. English translation: A Taxing Woman. Apparently it's based on a Japanese movie.

edit 2: geez, did I just not see Joe's previous post? *sigh* Anyway, hope I contributed a little more info to this thread...

WAY TO GO Dahne!

That means the lower right one is "Door Door" by Enix:

The upper right one is "Family Jockey" by Namcot:

The upper left one is "Ninja-kun Majyo no Bouken" by Jaleco:

There was a Famicom game based on A Taxing Woman?!? Wow, I never knew that! BTW, A Taxing Woman is a pretty good Japanese comedy about a woman working as a tax inspector trying to catch a tax evader. There was also a sequel made a year later (in 1988)...

SOMEONE MADE A FILM BASED ON TAX AVOIDERS!!! AAAAAAHHHHH!!!

No? *whew*

That is kind of what A Taxing Woman sounds like, plot wise... I'm really curious as to what the actual Fami game is like now. Achika, think you can fire it up and shed a little light on this?

Got that last one for ya, from your first picture.

It's "Sanma no Mei Tantei" by Namcot:

Thank Dahne - those clues made the rest easy.

I just found something very interesting. Juzo Itami, the director of Marusa no Onna, was also the executive producer of a movie by the name of Sweet Home. Sound familiar?

I've got another one! (boy, this is fun! luckily it's the last one)

Anyhow, the Taxing Lady is an RPG... unfortunately I can't do screen grabs for another week since I left my equipment at my school and my make-shift way isn't able to grab the full screen. Anyhow, it's a 1st person "graphic adventure" Think, LucasArts (Maniac Mansion, early Monkey Island, etc. - walk, talk, etc.) mixed with Goonies (3rd Person with boxes all around)

The first word in the title is "Masakari", and the little pink banner under it says something about action. The developer's name is too small for me to read, but it's in English. :)

My dream job is to be a translator (I've got a *lot* of classes to take before I get there :) ), so I love getting a chance to practice.

"Masakari Densetsu Kintaro Action (something)." There are apparently two Masakari Densetsu titles for the Game Boy. One's an action/platformer, and the other's an RPG. As you can probably tell, you have the action game.

It often seems as though "densetsu" is the most common word among Japanese game titles. It means "legend," and it shows up in all genres.

Thanks Achika... if you do get a chance to grab screenshots, let me know as I'd love to see them. :)
