The battle of expos. They are probably the two biggest Classc Gaming Expos. Sure CGE is bigger but which one do you prefer. I hate how far CGE is but I love teh auction (obviously :P ),Layout, tournaments, and nachos. I am yet to go to Philly Classic though.
I rember at CGE (2 or 3 years ago) they were auctioning off a scside from Philly Classic and when Jon read it out loud he was like " What is this thign doing here, get this out of here" I thought it was pretty funny. Thats what made me write this post. LOL

hahaha thats pretty funny. I have never been to CGE, I hear it is amazing. I love Philly Classic, and I am fortunate for it to be so close to my home. Wow, speaking of which... its almost time!
We need a Philly Classic 5 sticky. It's less than 3 months away!

No, Jon made that comment when he was holding up a cart for a really obscure system as I recall. Along the lines of "No one collects for this system - Why is this cart here?" In fact, I honestly don't remember a SCSIcide being auctioned off.
Anyway, comparing CGE and PC is like comparing apples and oranges, so the whole "vs." thing is a little unfair. I view game cons like I view comic book/rpg cons. Everything other than CGE is like the local/regional conventions. CGE is - to me - like Origins/GenCon (for you D&D types). Both have a place, but CGE's just - I dunno - on a "grander" scale. I go to CGE to meet famous folks and see once-in-a-lifetime items. I go to the smaller cons to meet/trade/play with fellow gamers - though I do that at CGE too. It's just that CGE holds a lot of my "gotta go see/attend this forum" time.
But that's just me.

Since when is 2,600 attendees smaller ?
weird math there cap'n crunch
we had:
100 CLASSIC arcade games, [just ask the group from twin galaxies]
numerous interactive displays of games/consoles old and new including many never before seen bemani games from Japan
an auction
game culture celebrities like Howard Scott Warshaw
Once in a lifetime items like a replica of the the brown box [built by ralph for PC5 and presented by Lenny Herman], Atari dev equipment from atarimuseum.com
sponsors that would make your head spin - EB, Gamestop, Gamecrazy, SONY, ATARI, Epic Games, Electric Playground, Dave & Busters, Nokia, t-one mobile, the list goes on and on
we were covered by local and national media [not to mention we were slashdotted]
Tim is right, there really is NO competition.

In all fairness, I will be bringing the Brown Box to CGE also. Health permitting, Ralph may also be attending, just as he had hoped to do at PC5. We're also hoping that Ralph's book will be available for sale at CGE.

You *do* know that when you count, you add +1 each time, and not +3, right? :P

.............
Everything that CGE does, except at 1/10th the scale ;)
