Ever since Ive joined this board a couple of weeks ago ive started collecting games. It's a nice hobby and ive learned allot from all of you.
Ive noticed that nintendo did make more GOLD colored carts. than i thought. Are any worth buying. I always find Zelda and Link but Ive found others like this game about Ranching or something like that. I even turned it around and it looks like theres a chip you can remove. Anyways I was wondering how many gold colored games are there and if any are worth buying.
Lots of you talk about tengen tetris but what about the other Tengen games, buy or no buy?
I guess Im mostly interested in Nes and Snes games and would like to start my collection there......and I just want some advice on were to start and what to look for. Thanks again for you help in advance.

Ranching? The farm-like domicile or the tasty dressing not for wings?

Ok, the other gold carts are by Camerica, and they're part of the group of games 'those which Nintendo shall not name', i.e. the unlicensed carts. The chip on the back is a measure to get around the lockout protection NOA put in the NES to prvent such unlicensed games from running on their machines. Game doesn't work? Turn the switch to B and pop it back in. Also, not all Camerica games are gold.. some are sliver. Mig29 comes to mind. Valuewise, none are too uncommon, save for Big Nose Freaks Out. The games aren't too bad either, and Micro Machines can be pretty damn fun.

For a full list, because I'm lazy, you can go to the lists section of DP, and just look for games by Camerica. Or if you have the guide itself, same thing, with more detail.

ok so those colored carts. aren't really worth much. I was once watching G4 tv and some guy said that he had a game worth thousands. It was a gold cart for the nes. I guess they only made about 28 of those and it was given out to those who won some competition on Nintendo Power. Is it really woth that much? And what game is it?

That would be the famous Nintendo World Championship NES cart.

The only copies made were given out at the '89 NWC as prizes and some through Nintendo Power.

Well, it's all about demand. If no one WANTED the game, you think it would COMMAND thousands of dollars? Hell no! :D

What if Tiger had released a special gold plated version of one of their games for the Game.com which you could only get if you purchased the system and three games? How many of THOSE would be out there and how much would they be worth? LOL
