Okay... There is no doubt in my mind that my woman loves me. There is ALSO no doubt in my mind that my game and movie collecting drives her crazy sometimes.
So get this... One of the things she got me for Christmas was a Platinum GameBoy Advance SP (along with Super Mario Advance 4 and Lunar Legend)! What the HELL?!? Should I be on my guard or something? She told me she did actual research on GBAs online (differences between standard and SP models, bundles etc) and grapped this one for the lighted screen and 'cause she said it matches my GameCube Q (which she still has not forgiven me for). Again... What the HELL?!?
Now I can get my Mario on at work and in the crapper! She's the GREATEST!

I have a tip for you --
encourage her, but do NOT scare her away by trying to maintain the "I know a lot more than you do about this" <-- that's quite possibly the best way to scare somebody off. :>

That's a sign that you have a really great girlfriend. Not just because she bought you gaming things, but because she bought you gaming things when you know she's been upset over them in the past. She was thoughtful and caring enough to get you something that she knew you'd really appreciate, and use, and be happy that you got. I say you've got a great relationship there!

She cares enough about you to research and buy you something she knows will make you happy even though she's been annoyed by such things in the past. That's a great sign. Stick with that woman.
Heh, I was really hoping for just that package for xmas... my wife got me a leather jacket I'll probably never wear. Not my style.

i hear you atomic -- my classic computer and console collection has grown horribly out of control, it takes up an entire large room in my house. and I also collect arcade machines, which are sporadically located in other rooms throughout the house, not to mention the garage, which I can't park my truck in anymore ... this all drives my girlfriend a bit batty at times.
yet, somehow in the last 4 or 5 Christmases, I've managed to receive a GBA with a very nice accessory kit, my GameCube, my original PlayStation (a while back), not to mention several games for different systems.
we're getting married this october.....

My wife is fantastic!!!! :D
Video game stuff currently takes up 2 rooms of our 3 bedroom house...she will ALWAYS go out of her way to get me a game I particularly want, and if she is out shopping and spots a cheapy retro game item she always buys it for me. I have got some great Master System and Amiga games this way.
She bought me Billy Hatcher and Mario Kart DD and Super Smash Brothers(N64) and Mario Tennis (N64) for Xmas....shes buying me F Zero GX next Friday, she bought me my GBA SP and Metroid fusion, shes forever buying me gaming stuff! :D
And shes beautiful and sexy and shes mine and your not having her..... :D
(Just to rub it in, my grown up kids are cool too. My boy got me a Marios cement factory mini game thing, and my girl got me 9! @_@ PS2 games.

Well, I think my Fiancee is pretty good too. I've been with here for about 6 1/2 years, so we're practically married already. Now I have nearly 1000's games and 20 systems sitting around my coffee table. My Girl isn't a big game fan, but she's a trooper and she actually dusts my systems weekly for me and makes sure that all my game are returned to their cases and put back on the proper shelf. In the past 2 or so years, I've hooked her on Smash Bros Melee(Which she's actually got really good at and she embarasses self called masters of the game), MOH: Frontline, Conflict Desert Storm, Animal Crossing, and a few others. She hadn't played games really since the days of Nintendo, but she saw I had Super Mario Bros 2, and preceeded to beat it faster than I've ever seen done. She even beats it pretty damn fast without worping. For not being a gamer, she can make me look bad sometimes O_O . For christmas, I can never decide what to ask for , but she always seems to get something I want...This year I got Pac-Man World2/ VS, FF Tactics Advanced, Breath of Fire 2 for the GBA, Crimson Skies for Xbox.....Bouldar's gate for xbox, and EverCRACK for PS2 just cause she found them somewhere for $5 each new. There was one more game , but I can't remember it now(arn't I bad)....on top of all this she got me a bunch of DVD's I've been meaning to get....Band of Brothers Box Set, Godfather collection, Scarface, Kung Pow, and I think 3 others....All I got her was a new cell phone, so I always feel out done...It's like this every year....If I try to get her more than she gets me, she'll go get more presents, she will not be outdone during the holidays. :D

When my girlfriend bought me Ultima Online, even though she hated how much time I spent playing games, I knew I had found "the one". We've been married over 3.5 years now with a baby due this week. :)

Buy her a nice ring, dude that one's a keeper.
I bought my girlfriend (non-gamer) a GBA SP with Mario Kart. Now she loves it carries it everywhere in her purse and has been almost begging me to buy 2 dance mats for DDR for PS2. She's now loves playing games especially my Super Mario Advance 4 and DKC for GBA. All I have to say is Congrats... :)

:( :( I'm so envious it's sick. When i started collecting, my g/f told me that she loved Nintendo and genesis when she was growing up and she would play with me a few times. and now and then we would sit down and play mario brothers together. and if she got stuck somewhere, I would offer to help and she would snap my head off. Sounds funny.....but I didn't offer to help anymore and she has since then despised my love for games. to the point where I have absolutely not time to game......
Same with DVD's, she used to LOVE movies. Not at the theatre because you can't talk and you can't giggle without getting yelled at. So we would rent movies all the time. So at the time I had 10 dvd's. I trade a friend about 20 NES games for roughly 100 DVD's and she thought it was great. It's just too bad she won't ever watch movies anymore......
Any suggestions.....? Anybody at all......
Anyhow, congrats man.....I'm glad somebody is getting much love with a side of video games. ;)

Congrats, atomicthumbs. My ex-girlfriend hated my game habit. She tried Super Monkey Ball and Kung-Fu Chaos only to shut me up, but she hated that there was something I enjoyed more than spending time with her. The beginning of the end was when I spent a day looking for N64 games instead of going out to dinner with her and her friends.
However, I met a girl who owns a modded Xbox before the winter break so I'm hoping something will jump off! She can't wait to kick my butt in Halo. As if...
My New Year's Resolution: to get some in 2K4! ;)

I'd get a girlfriend like that, except my wife buys me gaming goodies now and again, and I don't think she'd approve. Best to stick with what works! LOL
Sounds like you got a keeper there to me. Fear not.

my girlfriend is not much of a game fan either, but I did get her hooked on Bust-a-move (Puzzle bobble) for neo geo. I'm trying to get her into pacman Vs, since I NEED someone to play that with.
When she bought me a PSone out of nowhere, I nearly shit myself.
So i guess this is who has the better girlfriend/wife thread???
She hasn't gotten me as much stuff as most but my wife (girlfriend at time) bought me the ps2 when it first came out with an extra controller and ff9 and with a 2 year warranty. She constantly buys new games for me......Oh and she use to be Miss San Diego so she is definetly HOT.
Sorry to scare you Chaoticjelly.
