That's still $500 for a different color of something you can get for $100.

It's stuff like this that seperates the collectors and the collectors with far, far too much money.

How many of these things were made anyways?

Dude, you don't know how bad I want one of those things. Like I dream about them. I was thinking about actually spending the 500-800 bucks. But I can't do it. Sucks pretty bad for me cause I have wanted them so bad since I saw them. :( :( :( :( :( :(

I could see how someone would want one I guess. I want one that looks like a US nes. Then I could see spending that much maybe. O_O

You know, for the prices that these are going for, you might as well just make your own. Even if you botched a couple of GBA's in the process, you'd still likely come in cheaper than these.

... plus, it would be a unique, one of a kind item that NOBODY else would have!

"Supposed to be going for $1000".
Well... there are lots of thing that are supposed to happen, especially in the world of limited editions, and just don't happen.

Still -- only 1000. It will hold it's value, that's for sure.
There are others with starting bids (but no bidders) of 60,000 upwards to 90,000. I'll pass. I'm happy with my GBA I can play. I'm not such a Nintendo nut. If it was a PC-Engine version, then that might be something. :)

Huh, only 1000 made? It's all about whether you want one. I would say that you'd better be getting one for the right reasons, though :)

I hear only 1000 of those white Game Gears with the case and TV tuner were made (OK, so the eBay auction that's way overpriced claims that). All things equal, I'd rather get one of those.

1000? Hey, supposedly there's only 30 copies of Huge Insect for NES made... anyone want to offer me $500 for mine? LOL

Why not just buy a $5 skin at gbamod.com?

At some level I'm still in agreement with Scoots...I've always hated "limited editions" unless there's something about them that really does make them valuable or different (take the limited edition R7 Dreamcast units that are actually decommissioned arcade units put in a Dreamcast shell, now that's interesting). Limited editions getting out of hand, gold foil cards and the resultant higher prices caused me to quit baseball card collecting in 1995...things had started to get pretty pathetic and I didn't want any more of it.

I'd rather get stuff that's rare AND interesting -- like an MSX computer designed for video editing (i.e. professional stuff, or multi-purpose items) -- and leave the "LE" crap for the fanboys to snap up. I'd draw the line at about the PSX and GameCube Q...those are interesting units, but are they worth the big bucks? Hard to say.

Can anyone tell me the status about this auction. Like teht ime, and actual US currency price. I hate no language packs.

If you're into Japanese stuff, I seriously recommend getting the langauge packs. They make life much easier, and you'll eventually start to pick up on some of it.

Anyhow, there's 2 days, 19 hours + left, and the current price is 51,000 yen (~$480).

dood thats way too much.. i can get you one for alot less... maybe $150-$200..

$100 will go towards a regular GBA SP.. and the rest for spray paint.. i mean.. er.. stuff.. and i'll have u one in no time!

also i can get u a box and write some symbols on there that might kinda look like japanese writing.. DONT PASS THIS DEAL UP !

This URL will be better.

It shows quite a few of them... some way overpriced. One person even wants 150,000 yen for his.

From the article:

Do you have a Taco Bell "Defeat The Dark Side... And Win!" cardboard cup-top playing piece from the restaurant's 1999 tie-in sweepstakes for Star Wars: Episode I lying around somewhere? Chances are you do, because more than 80 million of them were made. But don't throw it out: According to the March issue of Game-Piece Buyer's Guide, it's worth $295.

Funny thing is I kept not only one of those cups, but the bag and the really cheesy toy that came with it. Hehe, The Onion hits too close to home sometimes :)

Ah, if only I could BELIEVE anything the Onion says..... LOL

And $480 for the limited edition GBA? Yeah, that sounds about right. I expect all of them to sell in the $500-1000 range.

You don't need the language pack. The number in the right is the price in Yen - you could convert exactly at xe.com, but the Yen has been around 100 to the dollar for a while, so just divide the price by 100 to get the approximate price in dollars.
