A friend of mine works at a value village. He picked up a copy a gas hog (A2600 - R8 $75 By The Guide) for $3. BUT, that's the 2nd copy he's picked up there within the past 3 months. UGH.
I gotta hit him up to trade me one for cheap.

All the thrifts in the area here fire on the spot if you try to buy an item for yourself or save it for somebody to pick up.That would suck, to make a crappy wage to do a dirty job and watch everyone else get the good stuff.I know a manager at one though that wouldnt hestitate to pull something off the floor that he likes.
Congrats if your friends got it good wherer he's at.Unless of course he doesnt share ;)

Everytime I go into a Thrift store around here I feel like I need to scrub my hands when I leave. I'd hate to work at one.

The best deals are in thrift stores, no doubt about that. It takes patience to find anything though.
This guy needs help: (off-topic)

That's true anywhere, but there are plenty of legitimate ways around that. Once it reaches the shelves, ask to take a work break and then buy it. Or call someone to come to the store and buy it for you. etc.

They dont even allow that here. One chain only allows employees to shop on a certain day of the week and the other big one only allows you to shop on your day off. A few years ago, it wasnt so bad but some of the ebayers kept calling corp. saying the employees were taking all the good stuff. It may just be the city I live in though.[/quote]

When by brother worked at the local thrift store (Which he hated), an hour before they opened, he'd call me up on his cell phone (If I was working midnights or swings) and let me know if they got anything in. Most of the time it would be a bust, but once in awhile I grabbed a couple of things (My Sega CD system, a couple of boxed 2.00 Genesis games, and a Donkey Kong board game)

Same here. no offense to your friends, but all the people that work at mine are 100% white trash.

I wouldn't care how dirty the store is...if I got a deal like that I would work there

I worked at a Goodwill for the summer, probably fourteen years ago.
That was before my collecting days. But I still scored some cool stuff.
I was the guy who stocked the shelves.
They allowed employees to buy things on break, so I would stash stuff
under one of the twenty lamp shades on the top shelf.

Maybe it's just me, but I think employees doing this sort of thing is worse than the "game horders."

I don't think it's a great idea, but it certainly beats thrift stores holding the good stuff back to sell online......It's better in the hands of a collector. And, if anybody is working at a place like this to help their collection, they are definitly a collector in my eyes.
